THE SATELLITE NEWS MAILING LIST
Don't have time to check our site every day, but want to get the latest MST3K-related news as soon as
it happens? You lazy bum, you! You've got some attitude! We work and we slave over a hot keyboard all day and this
is the thanks we get???!! Your mother was right about you...
Oh, sorry. Actually, we understand perfectly that not everybody has time to stop in at our site every day (though
it wouldn't KILL you to come by ONCE in while, you ungrateful little...), so for those busy folks, we have created
a special service: a Satellite News mailing list.
This is an ANNOUNCE-ONLY list, not a discussion list. That means you will only get mail from two people, Sampo
and Erhardt, and if you reply to our emails, we are the only people who will see your reply.
Our SPAM policy: Your email address will be held in strictest confidence and will not be sold to evil
spammers--or even nice, friendly ones.
Whenever news breaks anywhere in the ever-widening world of MST3K and its former stars, you'll get an
email FIRST, before we post it on newsgroups or public forums (if we post it there at all), and usually before
we post it on this site! And, for the eight or so people who care about updates or new features here at the Satellite
News site, we'll send out notes about that to the list, too.
To sign up, just type your email address in the box below, click on the "Join" button, and then follow
the instructions in the email that will arrive shortly thereafter, if you typed in your email address right, that
is.
Some other stuff:
We're using the Topica.com service as our host for the list. We did
a lot of research about mailing list providers and we think the folks at Topica are terrific. We cheerfully encourage
you to visit them, and patronize their advertisers! :-)
The above handy-dandy box is the easiest way to subscribe, but another way is to send a blank email to: mst3kinfo-subscribe@topica.com
and then follow the instructions that will soon arrive.
If, after sampling our fare, you find yourself screaming: "Turn it off! Turn it off! TURN IT OFFFFFFFFF!!!!"
we have that covered, too. To unsubscribe: send a blank email to: mst3kinfo-unsubscribe@topica.com
and again follow the instructions that will soon arrive.
For more information about the MST3K Info list, visit: http://www.topica.com/lists/mst3kinfo.
There are lots of ways to receive your stuff from us: You can get a "digest" version every 10 messages,
or you can just read it on the web at the Topica site (though why you would want to do that is beyond us, since
you could just visit OUR site. But what the hell, it's an option).
To edit your MST3K Info list preferences, go to: http://www.topica.com/lists/mst3kinfo/prefs.
To read the MST3K Info list on the Web, or search the archives, go to: http://www.topica.com/lists/mst3kinfo/read.
Note: You must be a subscriber to be able to read this list on the web.
About bounces, or "Why aren't I getting emails anymore?":
Topica alerts us if a message we send "bounces"--that's internet lingo for when your email service
sends our email back to us, saying it's undeliverable.
When we receive one "bounce" notification about a given email address, we continue to send emails.
When we receive two or more "bounce" notifications about a given email address, the email address in
question is DELETED from the database. The owner of the email address will NOT be notified that this has happened.
It is YOUR responsibility to make sure our email will get to you unhindered. If you find you're no longer subscribed
to the mailing list, it's usually because your email server bounced our mail.
Frequently asked questions:
Q: I've changed email addresses. Would you please delete my old email address and add my new one?
A: Honestly, we'd love to do this sort of thing for folks, but with about 1,700 subscribers, we just can't,
or we'll be doing it and nothing else all day. When you change email addresses, it is YOUR responsibility to send
an "unsubscribe" message from your old address before it closes down, and then resubscribe from your
new email address. However, if you forgot to unsubscribe from your old address and you no longer have access to
it, don't worry: It'll get deleted when it bounces.
Q: Would you add my friend's email address to your list? It's...
A: Stop right there. Please tell your friend to subscribe by visiting this page or by sending a blank email
to mst3kinfo-subscribe@topica.com.
