Trivia: Looking like a carbon copy of his very successful character actor father, ALAN HALE JR. (1918-1990) is best known for his role as the Skipper on TV's Gilligan's Island. His movies include: 1942-To the Shores of Tripoli; 1950-Kill the Umpire; 1950-The Gunfighter; The West Point Story; 1955-The Indian Fighter; 1975's 810-THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION; and 1979's 622-ANGELS REVENGE. He also made many TV appearances.

In 1949, Mary Jane Hayes represented the state of Washington in 1949's Miss America pageant. By 1954, she had changed her name to ALLISON HAYES (1930-77) and signed a contract with Universal. Her beauty typecast her in stereotypical roles. Hayes, who was wasted here in the small role of assistant Donna, starred as Grace Thomas in 320-THE UNEARTHLY; the scheming bar-owner Erica Page in 511-GUNSLINGER; and the witch Livia in 806-THE UNDEAD. She was most famous for the lead role in 1958's Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. In the early 1970's, she was diagnosed with leukemia, and sought alternative treatment to the traditional treatment she was getting. She self-diagnosed herself as having lead poisoning from this alternative treatment, but refused to be tested or treated for her mysterious symptoms. Allison Hayes died at the age of 47, the exact cause of death unknown.

Her filmography includes: 1954-Francis Joins the WACs; Sign of the Pagan; So This Is Paris; 1955-Chicago Syndicate; The Purple Mask; Double Jeopardy; Count Three and Pray; 1956-The Steel Jungle; Mohawk; 1957-Zombies of Mora Tau; Creature with the Atom Brain; Guns, Girls and Gangsters; The Disembodied; 1958-Wolf Dog; Hong Kong Confidential; 1959-Pier5; Havana; Counterplot; 1960-The Hypnotic Eye; The High-Powered Rifle; Lust to Kill; 1963-Who's Been Sleeping in my Bed?; 1965-Tickle Me.

SIRRY STEFFEN, former Miss Iceland, did a nude scene in this movie for foreign markets! She was a regular on TV's Beverly Hillbillies as the Drysdale's maid.

Born Richard Van Mattimore in 1899, actor RICHARD ARLEN starred in the first motion picture to win the Best Picture Oscar, 1929's Wings, which was about World War I (in which he actually had been an airman). He was in over 250 movies, mostly in the 1930's and 1940's. Arlen was also in 420-THE HUMAN DUPLICATORS as well as The Last Time I Saw Archie, a pseudo-biopic about Arch Hall Sr. (see 506-EEGAH!).

BURT REYNOLDS screen-tested twice for the role as teen character PAUL LAWRENCE, but performed so woodenly that he was not chosen.
