Trivia: Born Creighton Tull Chaney, a fine actor and make-up artist in his own right, LON CHANEY JR. (1906-1973) had trouble with comparisons to his equally talented famous father who was known as the Man of a Thousand Faces, Lon Chaney Sr. (1883-1930). In fact, Lon Sr. forbade his son from persuing an acting career. It was only after his father's death that Creighton changed his name to Lon Jr. and started work in show business. Junior was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role in 1939's Of Mice and Men, but did not become a star until his breakthrough performance in 1941's The Wolf Man. Sadly, like Bela Lugosi before him, his portrayal was a bit too good--succeeding only in having him typecast forever in monster roles. 409-THE INDESTRUCTIBLE MAN was made during the downward spiral of his career. Other interesting CHANEY films include: the 1936 serial, 406S-UNDERSEA KINGDOM; 1939-Man Made Monster; 1942-Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman; 1942-The Mummy's Tomb; The Ghost of Frankenstein; 1943-Son of Dracula; 1944-House of Frankenstein; The Mummy's Curse; The Mummy's Ghost; 1945-House of Dracula; 1947-My Favorite Brunette; 1948-Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein; 1951-Bride of the Gorilla; 1952-High Noon; The Bushwackers; 1956-Cyclops; The Black Sleep; 1967-Hillbillies in a Haunted House; and 1971-Dracula Vs. Frankenstein.

Effeminate actor CASEY ADAMS (a.k.a. Max Showalter) is sometimes confused with another effeminate actor, Del Moore, who played the con-man father in 204-CATALINA CAPER. Other Adams' movies are: 1952-What Price Glory; 1953-Niagara; 1954-Naked Alibi; 1956-Bus Stop; 1957-The Monster That Challenged The World; and 1961-Summer and Smoke.
