Comic-Con Panel Report

Well, if you were expecting Joel and Jim to come to blows or something, that didn't happen. In fact, Joel and Jim sat side-by-side and traded riffs very pleasantly. And not much new ground was broken. Many of the questions -- "does Joe Don Baker REALLY want to beat them up?" -- have been covered in many previous panels. And at the end of the panel, they announced that the entire panel will be included in the 20th Anniversary box set. So you didn't really miss anything earth-shattering, in that sense.

But in another sense, you did. The panel was fun and very funny, and Patton Oswalt kept the discussion moving. He asked obscure questions like: "What was Gizmonic Institute really like?" Joel replied, with trademark deadpan, "We all knew it was shaped like a G." One bit of news that actually did get broken came from Paul, who said he is working on a music CD. "I have CDs in the back," he said, "They're not my music, though. I've got some Black Oak Arkansas..."

Asked about where she got the character for Pearl, Mary Jo said the character was an "extrapolated" version of her mother. This prompted Frank to lean into his mic and groan "Heeeere we go....." Kevin pretended to be texting on his phone, claiming to be Tweeting, before Mike knocked it from his hands and Oswalt noted "We all know your phone just has gum and candy in it."

There were many more great moments, but we won't spoil it because you're going to see it on the DVD. Enjoy the pics!
