Dr. Floyd Report

"The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd," starring Doug Price and Grant Baciocco, is "the internet’s longest running, professionally produced, family friendly podcast." Grant is a friend of Satellite News, and you may have noticed his name in the credits for Cinematic Titanic's "The Oozing Skull" DVD, for which he provided sound effects.

The show began with the short film "Road Trip"--which you can see at doctorfloyd.com--followed by the comedy/juggling act of Michael Rayner. He invited several children from the audience to assist him, and was very funny. Michael was also involved with "The Oozing Skull" DVD, having been one of the silhouetted figures that led the CT crew into the theater at the beginning.

Then Grant introduced the performers and the actual Dr. Floyd show began. I won't give too much away, and will only say that the story revolves around a scheme to travel back in time to make money from early comic book publishers (a plot appropriate for Comic-Con). Legendary performer Chuck McCann (yes, the guy from "Far Out Space Nuts") played one of those publishers, providing his character with a raspy, yet booming, 1930's executive voice. Frank was the other publisher and...well, sounded like Frank. You won't have any problems recognizing his voice. Other performers included author Cecil Castellucci, voice artist Wally Wingert (who provided the voice of Almighty Tallest Red on "Invader Zim") and new "Dr. Floyd" regular Moira Quirk. Several children from the audience were also asked onstage to help out.

After the performance, Frank was approached by a few audience members for the obligatory signing of the ACEG and other MST paraphernalia, then a few minutes later told me has was heading out for his two hour drive back to L.A. And thus the MST3K cast member presence at Comic-Con came to an end.

Look for "Mint Condition" to be posted on doctorfloyd.com in about a week or so.
