 Thousand Oaks, CALIF. — Character actor Ron Masak died Oct. 20 at a hospital here. He was 86.
He is perhaps best known as Cabot Cove Sheriff Mort Metzger, a frequent beneficiary of sleuth Jessica Fletcher’s crime-solving abilities for eight seasons of TV’s “Murder, She Wrote.” But he also had roles on dozens of TV series during his six-decade career. MSTies will remember his role as the sheriff in the movie in episode 706- LASERBLAST. Thanks to Gordon and Paul for the heads ups.  California — Actor/stuntman Ted White died at his home here Oct. 14. He was 96.
He may be best known to horror movie fans for his role as Jason Voorhees in “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.” As a stunt man he appeared in “Creature from the Black Lagoon,” “Giant,” “Rio Bravo,” “Planet of the Apes,” “King Kong,” “The Manitou,” “Escape from New York,” “Road House” and Gone in 60 Seconds. As an actor he appeared in “TRON,” “Romancing the Stone,” “Starman,” “The Hidden” and “The X-Files.” MSTies might remember him as a brawler in the movie in episode 324- MASTER NINJA II The crew at “Bloody Disgusting” got the story. Thanks to Gordon for the heads up.  LOS ANGELES–Dame Angela Lansbury, the actress who for seven decades brought a commanding presence to stage, screen and television, died Oct. 11 at her home here. She was 96.

LOS ANGELES — Actor Austin Stoker, an immigrant from Trinidad who appeared in films including “Assault on Precinct 13,” “Battle for the Planet of the Apes,” “Sheba, Baby” and the ABC miniseries “Roots” died at a hospital here Oct. 7. He was 92.
MSTies will recall his performances as Dr. Ken Melrose in the movie in episode 405- BEING FROM ANOTHER PLANET and as a dive officer in the movie in episode 814- RIDING WITH DEATH. The Hollywood Reporter has the story. Thanks to Gordon for the heads up. |
