Kevin O’Neal, RIP

Thousand Oaks, Calif. — Kevin O’Neal, the younger brother of Oscar-nominated actor Ryan O’Neal and a regular on the 1960s ABC comedy “No Time for Sergeants,” died Jan. 28. He was 77.

MSTies may remember him as Harry in the movie in episode 523- VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS.

The Hollywood Reporter has the story.

Thanks to Gordon for the heads up.

Incidentally, we have been remiss in not mentioning the passing of actress Inna Churikova, who played Marfuska in the movie in episode 813- JACK FROST. We had been waiting for an English language obit and then it got buried by other things.

The Moscow Times has a story here.

Thanks to several attentive readers who reminded me.

Wade Williams Has Reportedly Died

Kansas City, Mo., — Wade Williams, a cinema archivist and film collector, has, according to several of our most reliable sources, died earlier this month. He was believed to be 80.

Williams apparently did not have any family or children, nor was he married at the time of his death, these rumors might be all we’ll get regarding an official notice of his passing. His remains have reportedly already been cremated.

Williams had the rights to a number of MST3K movies, including “The Crawling Eye”, “Lost Continent” and “Bride of the Monster.” He has never permitted the riffing of another film he owns the rights to, “Rocketship X-M.”

Thanks to Paul for the photo and for the heads up.
