Phil Donahue RIP

NEW YORK CITY — Phil Donahue, whose pioneering daytime talk show launched an indelible television genre, died at his home here after a long illness. He was 88.

Dubbed “the king of daytime talk,” Donahue was the first to incorporate audience participation in a talk show, typically during a full hour with a single guest. “Just one guest per show? No band?” he remembered being routinely asked in his 1979 memoir, “Donahue, My Own Story.”

Konstantin Zagorsky RIP

Soviet and Russian production designer Konstantin Zagorsky died August 18. He was 91 and was the winner of many awards, including the USSR State Prize in the field of literature, art and architecture (1982), Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1988), People’s Artist of the Russian Federation (1997).

MSTies might have seen his credit as production designer for the movie in episode K11- HUMANOID WOMAN.

RIP Peggy Moffitt

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF. — Model and actress Peggy Moffitt, who became a 1960s mod icon, died here August 10. She was 86.

MSTies will recall her role as Flo in the movie in episode 601- GIRLS TOWN.

RIP Chi Chi Rodriguez

CLEARWATER, FLA. — Juan Antonio “Chi-Chi” Rodríguez (age 88), (aka “Chy-chy Rodragweez”) died here August 8. He was an eight-time PGA Tour winner and one of the most charismatic and beloved figures in pro golf.
