RIP James Earl Jones

Pawling N.Y. — James Earl Jones, whose acting career was every bit as rich and resonant as the iconic bass voice that gave sinister malevolence to Darth Vader in the “Star Wars” films, died Sept 9 at his home here. He was 93.

A native of Arkabutla, Mississippi, Jones was raised by his grandparents in Michigan and overcame a stutter in early childhood. After studying drama at the University of Michigan, he moved to New York in 1957 to follow in the footsteps of his father as an actor.

MSTies will remember his role as Albert in the movie in episode 403- CITY LIMITS. He was also mentioned in a host segment in episode 805- THE THING THAT COULDN’T DIE.

Variety has the story.
