This should be awesome. I saw this movie before when I was little and I liked it. Then I saw it again as an adult and loved the cheese factor it had. I can hardly wait for this…that is if it is true.
That is very odd, hearing the news from something other than rifftrax.com. It’s like Amazon letting us know about the two recent LIVE DVDS.

Sweet. They said they were going to do Jack The Giant Killer sooner or later and that a live show should be coming up this summer, but these have always been on Thursdays. Not that Wednesdays any more or less convenient for most people…

What’s the date? It was taking forever for the article or whatever it was to download. :dazed:

They should do the musical version of the movie

My parents live near Merced. I’d probably go out for a visit, but this will be during the week that I change states and jobs. Ugh.
And is it just me, or is Merced, CA, an odd place to do this sort of thing? I think that the RiffTrax crew could easily fill up a larger venue in a bigger city. On the other hand, the recession has hit that part of CA extremely hard. (According to Google, the unemployment rate there for March 2011 was 21.4%.) Maybe the rent at the theater is really cheap and the people running it are desperate for any revenue.

Hmmm…we’ll see. I hope this is true. I think this movie is perfect for them.
I’m not sure they mean that RiffTrax will be performing the show from Merced. It may be that this is one of the theaters that has been contacted to air the satellite feed. Not sure.

Doesn’t RT have a forum? It would be easy to ask the guys there (I’m WAY too busy to get involved in any more forums, but someone here sure could).
Of course I’d go see this — I’ve seen ALL the RT events (and bought all their stuff, except for their current film riffs).

Mike: Asking them in the forum isn’t going to get us anywhere. They make official announcements when they’re ready to make them. Every time they do one of these, two things happen before the official announcement is made. The first is what I saw today, a movie theater web site with a REALLY long calendar adding this item because they got it from their supplier. The second thing, which I suspect we’ll start to see any day, is tweets or posts from movie theater employees who are MSTies (and a surprising number are). Stay tuned…

And there’s two Starbucks within a mile and half from the place. They are ubiquitous, aren’t they?

A quick Google search shows it on the schedule for theaters in Michigan and West Virginia as well. :-D

That’s a fun little movie and should be good light fare for Rifftrax.

Seriously, is there a chance that the Rifftrax gang will EVER tour? Or at least do a show in a handful of major cities? Or at least do conventions? I mean, cities and conventions that AREN’T in California that is. I think it’s a safe bet to assume this new one will be broadcast from California as well. I don’t mean to sound annoyed, I would just really love to meet the guys and get a quick autograph, and I’ve been patiently waiting, hoping that they’ll make some appearances, but then nothing. Meanwhile, the Cinematic Titanic group is traveling the country meeting all the fans. Okay, rant over. In other news, I’m happy to be getting some new Rifftrax films!

Merced in August = HOTHOTHOT!
Should be a cool show though.

For those who are not understanding: Nothing special is going to happen in Merced. That’s just one of the first theaters to add this NATIONAL event to its calendar.

CK2: It’s kind of a double-bind — CT may be touring constantly but when was the last time they released any new material, live or studio? It seems like forever and nothing’s been announced that I know of.
Meanwhile, the Rifftrax guys may not tour, but they keep a constant stream of the new laughs coming out for the fans to enjoy.

@Gummo: that’s definitely a very good point, especially since it seems like they’ve done an awful lot of live movies that haven’t been released on DVD yet. Granted, I prefer the non-live versions myself. But just one 5 city tour would be awesome though! (I just picked the number 5 at random). Or maybe instead of going through all that expense, just a day or two at a convention or some kind of signing, just to press the flesh a little. Damn, is that a dirty sounding way to say “meet the fans!” It’s a legitimate expression, I swear!

Hee hee, press the flesh. That DOES sound dirty.
The RiffTrax guys usually make an appearance at San Diego Comic Con, maybe they could at least do the same for other similar, large conventions like NYCC and C2E2. Yes, I know Mike and Legend Films are already in San Diego, but Kevin and Bill have to travel all the time. Might as well make Mike and Connor get on a plane once in a while.

@Sharktopus: Yes! Exactly!!!!

Ah, the one I REALLY wanted to see before they had to replace it with Reefer Madness. Joy.

Oh wow, and I thought Mike, Bill and Kevin were going out to Merced to do this one live!
You know Merced. It is the Paris France of the San Joaquin Valley.
Modesto only wishes it was as European as Merced.

Wednesday!? GAH!!!! There better not be a new episode of Mythbusters that night. I’d rather not have to choose.

Laura,
That’s why God created Tivo. :-)

I don’t have Tivo. If it does come down to it, I’ll just download the episode the next day. I just hate having to choose between my two favorite things: Rifftrax and Mythbusters.

I’m pretty sure The Other Guy created Tivo. :-P
