Having seen the image just a few seconds ago, I can say that this looks utterly horrifying.

I’d love to buy – but the screenshot has terrified me.

Note to young people – be glad you didn’t grow up in the 70’s…

I’m glad I grew up in the 70s. You youngsters have no idea how it was to grow up with all that weirdness seeming normal. It really was kind of funky. Something made for kids would scare the crap out you in order for you to remember some point to it.

There’s an old educational movie from the 70s about telephones. I hope they get to that one. I’d always wanted to see it again.

Yeah, but you guys didn’t get to enjoy all of the dark animated movies that us kids of the 1980s had. I don’t get how people could cry at Toy Story 3, but it was really sad when Little Foot’s mother died in The Land Before Time; still is.

  14. Ahem — you “youngsters” are those who grew up in the 70’s. You’re ALL kids.

Those of us who grew up in the 50’s could tell you a lot about life (but you’d never listen :>).

If it involved characters dressed as the “missing” Q and Z from the telephone, an odd prince-type character, and learning how to use phone books, it’s “Telezonia” from 1974. I remembered seeing it in second grade (and thinking the girl was kind of cute at the time), but thinking it was pretty strange even then; it’s findable on Youtube or somesuch thing nowadays. My favorite scene now shows shelves full of phone books like libraries had so you could look up out-of-town numbers. Not common nowadays.

@MikeK – Hi, I’m noplot’s wife, sunwolfe. Littlefoot’s mom has to be based on Bambi’s mom – and at least Littlefoot had friends his own age. A herd. Loving grandparents. What did Bambi get? A cold, stern adult basically telling him to suck it up…

As a youngster in the ideal age group when The Land Before Time first came out on glorious VHS I agree that Littlefoot’s orphaning was treated in a MUCH more kid-friendly manner than Bambi, which was downright traumatic to watch at the same age. (And still is, as far as I’m concerned.) It’s a shame that The Land Before Time has been so tarnished by half-assed direct-to-video sequels. The original really is a modern classic, Diana Ross song and all.

And Mike, I didn’t cry at Toy Story 3 (although I was genuinely scared that they were all going to get incinerated), but I’ll admit that Up had me and the missus weeping like grandmas at a wedding. And WALL-E is easily my favorite romatic comedy of all time, and probably always will be.

Anyway, what were we talking about? Teeth?

@ 3 Actually, this short was made in 1990 (heck it begins with two kids playing Pac-Man on the NES).

Definitely a bizarre one worth checking out (with Marv’s laugh at the end haunting you for day).

@14, I’ll get off YOUR lawn sir. :wilt: Sorry.

@15, Holy hell! That’s it!! Thank you thank you! I filed that away somewhere with images of Electric Company, Sesame Street and even some old short with Jonathan Winters as a litterbug or something. :-)) I probably saw that in the 1st and 2nd grades. :giggle:

radioman970–hey, just goes to show you do learn things in elementary school. Okay, I suspect they were hoping we’d learn something else besides how strange educational shorts were, but all that pushed out of my brain was any ability to write cursive competently, so not much of a loss. Now to inflic…ah, show that educational short to sunwolfe…

@21, that’s just evil. But…if you can find Secrets of Isis, the Filmation live action series, that would be a great chaser for that short I would bet. Hee hee hee!
