Great to see MST3K at #11. Hey, it’s a classic! BSG is their #1 pick? Wow. I gave up on BSG shortly into the second season. It was clear then that they didn’t really have a clue where they were going with it, and were making stuff up as they went. The finale kind of drove that point home I think. Not a hater (aside from the over use of shaky cam) just kinda let down by a lot of it.

    @3 and 4,

That’s why you don’t ressurect old TV shows. Sometimes it’s just not worth it.

Like a lot of these lists this one is all over the place. BSG at number one is a joke. And I’ve never heard of a number of them. Also, I like the original Dr. Who series (especially Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee) way better then the edgy new series- which I thought got carried away with being ethnically diverse—and Gallifrey totally zonked out??? (unlike my siblings who actually like the new series  ).

And Red Dwarf only at #20 What the smeg? :pain: ). Well, at least Bender and Co. rank up there.

At least they went for quality. Mostly. I think the animation needs to be in a separate catagory. While Twilight Zone and Outer Limits got on TV first Star Trek busted the genre wide open and helped to create an envioment [read that as a cash cow of epic perportions] that TV studios couldn’t ignore. No Star Trek geeks buying tons of crap and a lot of the shows on this list would just a script in some writers mother’s basement shelf.

I am just glad they did not count ALF in that list.

Not much love for Lost In Space. One of my faves.

What a terrible list, although that’s not surprising considering it’s IGN. I love Galactica but it’s not #1 by any stretch of the imagination. But in any case it’s nice to see MST3K get some actual appreciation, although I still count it as a better show than Firefly (which I think is just more overrated Joss Whedon bilge, but I admit I’m probably alone in that assessment).

Glad to see Nowhere Man on the list. That was a great show, and I think it was just on for one season.

    Good list all around.

“Like a lot of these lists this one is . . .” made by young men who base their opinions on what THEY watched as kids and what you might find at the video store or pick up at eh Comic-con.

All safe choices and all with a big enough fan base to insure your website gets hits. All the recent offerings, that the author admits had plenty of shortcomings, with enough classics to make you seem legitimate in your “research.” (Hey, how about the Tom Corbett. Is that hair or what??)

For example, he included “The Jetsons.” OK, good cartoon with science fiction wall paper. But was it better than Johnny Quest? (NOT included) It was played more on Boomerang, true, but does that make it better, or more quickly remembered?

You can’t include everything of course, and some shows might have slipped off the table, but did they really think “Lost in Space” was better that “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”(not even on the list)?

And including “The Prisoner” and “Lost,” (almost mandatory these days) in a list of Science Fiction shows has always puzzled me. More political drama than science fiction, but I am open to the arguments.

And if you are including “Red Dwarf” where is “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”? Not as good as the radio series, I grant you, but well written and well presented and deserved the slot occupied by some of the other, questionable, choices.

As usual, the list is weighted heavily on the last decade. That is to be expected given the authors and the audience. But really, no Avengers, Blake’s 7, or My Favorite Martian? Was “Roswell” that top of a “Sci-Fi Show”? Talk to a kid about “Roswell,” then talk to an Adult about “Land of the Giants.” See the responses you get.

No list will please everyone. But if you are going to present “The Best” then realize that there was T.V. before 1990 (even before 1999).

I would put Farscape much higher than 21. I guess Star Trek for one, since it jump started everything, then Farscape and MST3K as a tie for 2. But that’s just my opinion. (And I never saw a lot of the other shows).

I used to love Battle of the Planets and Starblazers when I was younger.
