Thanks for making me aware of Shout’s facebook page for MST.
I just left a comment there for them suggesting we move on to
another artist for the series because I’m not all that in love
with Steve Vance’s (is that his name?) style.

For some, I think it’s an acquired taste, Paul………I too wasn’t crazy about Shout!’s original artwork when it first debuted, but have to admit that over time it’s grown (a bit) on me.
I’m not quite ‘there’ yet, but have a feeling I will eventually be……… :snowman:

For me,I can take it or leave it really.Personally,I wish they would have trivia about each movie instead and not insert the mini-posters inside the box, which the posters are nothing but the same as the dvd cover anyway..What I do love is the menus to some of the movies from the Shout! releases.I like the menu for Bride of the Monster and The Beast of Yucca Flats especially.

Nice!
Can’t wait to hear when the Gamera boxset will come out…… or even possibly when the day comes when Kitten with a Whip will pop up on a future boxset (ugh…. Universal).

I just don’t understand why the big studios are so reluctant to let Shout release their versions. For example, Kitten with a whip. Released as is unriffed equals almost zero profits, heck it may even lose money. Let the mst3k version be released equals pure profit. They don’t have to promote the dvd or summit a master copy. They do nothing but wait for mine and your money to roll in. That is just bad business. :reallyangry:

save ferris (or at least Mia Sara)…believe me, I tried to be patient.
when the Shout’s first came out, I immediately, without hesitation, did not care for the artwork……BUT……I wanted to be reasonable about this, and, I attempted to adopt the same stategy, that of, just giving it time and, maybe, over time, I will have come to ‘adjust’ to them….let the art ‘grow on me’ as you say.
But not only has that not happened, I seem to be even more irritated that this style is not obviously written in stone and Shout will not budge.
very irritating, hence my comment to them on fb

Somebody ask them if they could put the MST3k cartoons on a set. :razzmad:

I quite like the Steve Vance artwork, and especially appreciate the miniposters since I use my own customized covers, modified from Josh Way’s excellent design. (I’m a stickler for uniformity, plus I can never remember what episodes are in what boxset, so I pull them out and put them in chronological order.) A little quick snipping, and the miniposters make nifty inside-the-case-inserts.
Anyway, I find that every aspect of Shout’s designs easily beat the thrown-together-at-the-last-minute feel of the old Rhino releases, and they’ve gone above and beyond my expectations in every other way – securing rights, bonus features, figurines – ten thumbs up for SHout Factory!
