My picks:
• The closing calypso number in episode 112- UNTAMED YOUTH. Mamie really sells it.
• The film-padding dance in episode 416- FIRE MAIDENS OF OUTER SPACE. You start to really hope for that monster attack.
• The grapefruit dance in episode 502- HERCULES. What could they symbolize?
• “Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Mo” from episode 809- I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF. Made me want to throw some milk.
• “Schick outta Shape” from 812- THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES. Hey, the cleaning ladies seem to like it!
Oh yeah–and Jack Kerouac was there, too.”

Girl in Gold Boots– Crow’s table dance is priceless.
Sky Divers– “I think heroin has hit this town in a big way”
Horrors of Spider Island– “She’s doing the drunk-aunt-at-the-wedding dance!”

I’m surprised that no one mentioned the final dance number in The Incredibly Strange Creatures That Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies. You know, the one where they’re supposed to be black people in white face that are Swedish and Inuit ladies-in-waiting? And then the guy runs out wearing a pair of briefs. That moment is all levels of wtf.
I just watched Hobgoblins, I love the dance scene in their unfurnished house when they’re just spazzing out to terrible music. Although Amy’s fan dance with electric fans was also undoubtedly erotic.

The Creeping Terror dance hall scene.
Hobgoblins. The low budget home dance party and the most un-erotic striptease ever.
Shick out of Shape from The Incredibly Strange Creatures is memorable, there’s a goofier dance number. It’s the one with the Glenn Close/tranny.
The Skydivers, or course, has a dance scene that’s so wonderfully bizarre that it almost redeems the rest of the movie.
The Zombie Stomp from The Horror at Party Beach. This one is like the dance from Skydivers, but more put into it.

>>You know, the mere fact that characters in Space Mutiny happen to dance in a scene doesn’t make it interesting or remarkable. <<
Come on, that had grandma dancing with the hula hoop and like, trying to have sex with it to impress that buttmunch.

The drunk bikers in Hellcats stand out in my mind.
Personally I liked the “pad the film” dancing in “Fire Maidens of Outer Space”. Thats my kind of padding.
By the way. does anyone know what kind of drug goofballs are? Besides something bikers and Little Richard get hopped up on.

I forgot the Atomic Age aerobics done by the plastic-clad gals wearing ‘hairpieces by Alexander Calder’ in the lounge of the bar in episode 0111 ‘Moon Zero Two.’ later the tavern’s theme switches to ‘HeeHaw 1999’ and the dancers wriggle underneath immense white jiggly cowboy hats. through it all, the sparse patrons in the lounge seem only vaguely interested in the rather robotic movements of these women, even when the dancers are clad in neon yellow polyester catsuits with attached orange shiny plastic codpieces and butt-flowers. the audience is probably hopped up on the rocket fuel cocktails, or maybe the free oxygen level is a little low.

Space Mutiny had some odd dancing. Girl in gold boots yup that was umm interesting. Catalina caper had a lot of white kids with no timing. Still The Incredibly Strange Creatures had the ones that stick out the most in my mind. Crows square dancing session in Bloodlust gets me everytime.

I’m not researching this, just thinking real quick about whatever memorable dances come to mind.
First I thought of the weird Laura Petri dancing girl in The Rebel Set. Thats a hard image to forget about.
Next I remember the grotesque Steve Alaimo dance in Wild Rebels.
What else? Oh, that Whole odd beach dancing scene in The Skydivers, with the many odd characters.
Now I’m thinking about the giant toddler dance by the Girl In Gold Boots from the very end of the movie.
Then theres one that doesnt count, the duck- walking stripper (supposedly) from Hollywood After Dark by The Film Crew. That scene is another tough one to forget.
Okay, some more:
the filthy raincoat fetching seduction dancing from Horrors Of Spider Island.
The “hinder is outta control” dance from The Creeping Terror.
The triangle foundation strippers in Final Justice.
The “chicks love big ducks” dancing in Village of the Giants, and also the girl at the beginning of the movie, shaking her moneymaker.
I’m too tired to think anymore tonight.

Thought of a couple more:
The “now you can dance to the bible” scene with Terry (You’re dirt) from Teenage Crimewave.
The “Did ya see my butt?” dance from Space Mutiny.
Another one that doesn’t really count, the spastic ‘Elaine from Seinfeld’ type dance from that one girl from Reefer Madness that Mike Nelson commented on.

a goofball is traditionally a crystalized or “rock” blend of cocaine and heroin.

I seem to remember some strange kind of vogueing in “Warrior of the Last World” where Crow says something like, “Gee, it all looks so good, I don’t know where to start.” And Tom says, “The human body is neat.”
That was pretty out there.

Say, does Frank’s stage dance to The Greatest Frank of All, as seen in the MST3K Scrapbook, count? :D

People should be allowed to bring up the same one or two episodes if they want to. It’s all about camaraderie.
And thanks (I think) to all of you who reminded me of grandma Wang Chunging it all over the place in “Space Mutiny.”

Whenever I hear “dance” and “MST3k” in the same context, I always think first of the dance in “The Creeping Terror” — because it is sooo bad it’s archetypical of MSTied movies.
And the second thing that pops into my mind is Space Mutiny  — and, fishbulb, it’s not especially remarkable because people happen to be “dancing”; it’s remarkable because the people who made the movie actually thought that an octogenarian in an aerobics outfit presenting with a hula hoop would be considered entertainment, and not a searing slice of hell that would permanently scar the minds of anyone who unfortunately had it inflicted upon them.
Then, in random order, come all the rest of the dance scenes, as mentioned above.

I particularly like Gamera’s hypnotically odd shimmying and impossible movements from Gamera Vs. Guiron. “Look at Gamera! He’s dancing go-go!”

Favorite dance numbers from MST3K movies…
– Wild Rebels: Rod the race car driver dances spastic with a beautiful girl till interrupted by the title characters.
– Sky Divers: The huge bodied woman dances with a notably more petite fellow.
– Hercules Unchained: The chicken dance by the beautiful dancing girl.
– Fire Maidens of Outer Space: Take my hand, I’m a stranger in … well, you know the rest.
– Creeping Terror: Kids dance while the audience is waiting for the monster to attack.
– Giant Gila Monster: Kids dance while the audience is waiting for the monster to attack.
– Earth vs. The Spider: Kids dance while…hey, do you see a pattern here?
– Monster A-Go Go: The dance seems to be there just to justify the A-Go Go in the title.

Didn’t Space Mutiny also have the gauzy Valerians dancing in some fashion or other?

Well, the groovy dancing in Village of the Giants came to my mind. Damn the Beau Brummels. Damn them.

Why all the “Space Mutiny” bashing??? Man, that is the funniest MST3K ever– EVER!!! That one is the pinnicle of greatness for the show!!! Every joke spot-on! I remember all that dancing!! By the way, Cisse Cameron and Reb Brown are married! In real-life! Isn’t that cool?? He’s so lucky, man!!

( re 74 ) Indeed, the story of Dirk Lampjaw & the Sexy Senior Citizen has much to reccomend it. I can understand someone not having it on their top ten, twenty or thirty list, but I don’t understand the hate.
Maybe Cisse and Reb are lurking about ?
Anyway we’ll have plenty of time to discuss this in… November 2009 ? ( estimate ).

“Itch, itch, itch”- Space Mutiny.
The dance numbers in these movies were just filler and set ups anyway.
The three more disturbing dance numbers are: Big Girl v. Small Man in Skydivers, “Mr. Speedo” from Horror at Party Bach and “Brain Guy” in Girl with the Golden Boots (yikes!)
The funniest was Nuveena (and Bridget’s take on her).

First dancey thingy that came to minds was Mike’s tiny swim trunks dance in Horror at Party Beach, where a part of Crow is gone forever

What about Ms. Marianne Horne “hypnotized” into doing a “modest twist” in Devil Doll ?? Let’s all go the lobby…..

I’m having trouble accepting Crow as a sexual being.
I’m also having trouble looking at Bill Corbett in that gold lame dress.

Yeah, Joan and Michelle from Girl in Gold Boots are goofy enough, but special recognition should be given to the backup dancers and their amazing repetoire of two dance moves.
The whiter-than-white dancers in Creeping Terror have already been mentioned, but dang it, it’s worth mentioning again. The comment, “Your parents before you were born,” rings horribly true.
Kenneth, Mr. B’s moves do count as dance, if you define dance as “spastic kicks and gyrations in tribute to the all-powerful ruler of Hell, Satan.”
And of course, the Lawrence Welk-ish dancing featured in Once Upon a Honeymoon. Yep, phones are fun.
