Let’s assume that someone is creating an MST3k Movie Character Hall of Fame. Who would be inducted to the charter class? We should choose one director/producer, five actors, and one movie each from the Mike and Joel eras. And what memorbilia (both props from the show and from the movies) should be on display?
My choices:
Director: Coleman Francis.
Actors: Joe Don Baker, Mamie Van Doren, Tor Johnson, Bruno Vestota and Peter Graves.
Movies: “Manos” and “Horror of Party Beach.”
Displays: Megaweapon’s tire, the button and Digger Smolkin’s robe.
What would be your pick?
Also, keep those suggestions coming by email to msampo at a-o-l dot com. Don’t post it in the comments here, I might not see it. And I had a little hard drive trouble recently so if I haven’t used one you suggested in the past, (and if I haven’t sent you an email as to why) if you can resend it, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
@50
It was “Rocketship XM”, TV’s Frank’s visit episode. :)

@Stoneman
Just one of those days. I was thinking “first” and don’t know why I typed something else. I just have to bash my head against a wall a few times and I’ll be fine.

@Laura
Understood. I often have days when “I wish I could get my pretty…mind…back” (sob).
Which reminds me (I don’t think it was mentioned yet), we need to have those silver boots (and gold ones too), and a fur-lined bra in the props display, and the stage from the “Haunted House”, complete with pouring smoke from the nostrils.

@ #14: Robert Lippert was not the director of the films used on MST3K, he was the producer. Believe me, as those are some of my favorite episodes of all time I would have put him on my list if he was the director.

I’m playing catch-up here, been a long start to the new year. I’m making my picks based on who deserves entrance into the fictional MST Hall of Fame, not really taking into account who has already received votes.
Director: Coleman Francis. The fact that anyone knows his work is entirely attributed to MST.
Actors/Actresses: Joe Don Baker, Tor Johnson, Peter Graves, Mamie van Doren, and Mr. B Natural.
Movies: “Manos: The Hands of Fate” and “Laserblast.”
Props: The Masters robe from “Manos” and the BGC-9 mechanized drum kit. Also, a model of the Satellite of Love would be essential.
That’s a pretty solid initial class inducted into the MST HOF, if I do say so.
I assume this fictional museum/gallery space would be located in Minneapolis, correct?
