Hey klish, I totally hear ya on that one. I did get my “Secret Santa” gift at work last night. Boxes and boxes of Mike And Ike’s, assorted flavors. I do like them, but man. We had a $10 limit, and a gift card to Barnes And Noble or Amazon or F.Y.E. or Randy’s Records would have been more appreciated…I gotta be less obvious with my petty vices. Now, how to smuggle those into the theater without the SHUK-SHUK sound of them in my pocket being detected…

Got MST3K Vol. XIX. Mom STILL can’t understand why I buy this “crap”, but it makes me happy.

Truth is, this was a sober Christmas since a surrogate uncle died on the 21st, so honestly I could have gotten nothing and have been happy. I got some other goodies but I don’t want to gloat too hard. Just happy to be with family and try and be supportive.

    Merry Festivus everybody!!

Nothing MST3k related for Xmas; waiting for a sale and Ima gonna buy myself somethin’.

For Christmas what I did score were some new pajama pants, a new sock hat (blue), Being There on DVD–one of my fave movies, Elliott Smith-Figure 8 on vinyl, Across 110th Street sndtrck on vinyl, a fake mustache, ‘The Art of the Nasty’ –FAB Press book on pre-certification and “video nasty” movies in the UK, way too much Xmas candy, a groupon for a couple movie passes/popcorn/2 sodas, AND the fantastic mega-gift was America Lost and Found: The BBS Story -Criterion Collection DVD 7 film BoxSet. I was a very good boy this year. It was a sweet Christmas, indeed.

    !
    HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!!!

I got MST3K vol. 14- now I just need vol. 15 and I’ll have all of the MST3K box sets! Also got lots of stuff for my other favorite show: The League of Gentlemen’s Book of Precious Things, The League of Gentlemen: Scripts and That, and a League of Gentlemen Hoody (that says “Don’t Touch My Precious Things!” on it). Also got a nifty Kurt Vonnegut-designed T-Shirt and a couple of other things. Good haul!

MST3K Volume 15 – MST3K related gifts are always my last gift on birthdays and Christmas :) SO excited to get them!

Other gifts: some sweaters, 2 pair of earrings, a Starbucks gift card, chocolate and candy, bath/spa stuff, and a bunch of small, practical items.

I go home for New Years next week and I usually get money from my dad, so I plan on spending some of that on something CT/RT/MST3K related too. I haven’t bought anything from CT in awhile (no money) so maybe I’ll pick up something there.

    Happy Holidays!

What did I get for Christmas? I got a snowstorm delayed by one day so that my parents & brother could come to our house and celebrate with their grandchildren/nieces (it’s an hour drive for them to get here). Xmas would have sucked if the family couldn’t have gotten together because of some snow.

As far as gifts go, seeing the reactions from my two girls & wife as they opened the gifts I gave them was all I needed to make Christmas perfect enough for me.

A couple of “Catchphrase” t-shirts. Everyone at the holiday parties I attended LOVED the “What’s In The Pipe, Santa?” shirt, even though none of them got the reference.

Thanks again for all your work on the site, and Happy Holidays!!!!

Like many others, I got the Volume XIX (with Gypsy) DVD set. Does anybody want to sell me their Crow figurine? If I can buy yours, then I’ll have a full set.

I also got some political books (I won’t say the titles, because I like this message board being a neutral, safe haven from the serious world.), my favorite candy, a CD, a DVD, a gift card, and a few miscellaneous items. The best thing, though, was to spend time with my family and have time off of work.

I didn’t give as much as I would like, because I’m also looking for a job (for after I graduate in May) and I’ve been upgrading my professional wardrobe. I have never dumped so much money into clothes. I guess you could say that I’ve been buying myself new suits, shirts, shoes, and other items. I’d rather spend the cash on my family, though.

I’m another one who got Volume XIX with the Gypsy figurine. Are we a predictable bunch, or what? Also got a new game for my Nintendo DS, some bags of flavored coffee, and way too many food treats. The whole family watched “Bride of the Monster” together on Christmas night and I told them we were starting a new tradition. It was one of the funnier eps, I think. Happy New Year to you all!

I got Volume XIX AND the Gypsy Figurine.

I don’t know what else I got because this was the first present I opened, I screamed in joy,
took Gypsy out of the box, ran to my room, and spent the rest of the day playing with all
    my MST3K action figures.

I got everyone together, turned on movies on the TV in my room, made the cardboard cutout seats,
and played Satellite-of-Love all day long until Mom called me for dinner.

Of course, because I am over 39, this was really, really sad, and my wife and kids spent the day
    crying.

BUT I AM HAPPY AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Oh, and I got some shirts and books and stuff)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I got Volume 19 with Gypsy as well. Also some of the few Zappa albums I was missing, and a DVD of Psychomania which I saw in a delirious state in the middle of the night on TCM a while back and needed to see again to judge whether it is as weird as it seemed.

Got the new box set with Gypsy toy (score!). I know some of the BB folks aren’t too thrilled with the way Jim Mallon is packaging the DVDs, but the menus and extras on these recent Shout! sets have been well worth the money. Sorry nobody’s getting paid but Jim!

” the complete graphic novel series of Scott Pilgrim”
    ==========================================

Ah, I see you agree with Tom Servo it’s not
    a comic book, it’s A GRAPHIC NOVEL!

  30. Sharktopus says:

[comics geek] Actually, Scott Pilgrim really IS a series of graphic novels and a not comic book as it was never released in individual issues. So “graphic novel,” while sounding unfortunately pretentious, is a more accurate term.[/comics geek]

It’s also the bee’s knees, as is the movie adaptation. The bee’s knees, I tell you. MSTies should enjoy it.

I got a rock. Oops, wrong Charlie Brown holiday special.

@ Sharktopus #80: If you want to sound really pretentious, call them sequential art (unfortunately, I’m not making up that term).

The first “graphic novel” I recall coming across was one of (believe
it or not) Hamlet- actually pretty well done. And no, Max S.
    wasn’t in it. :)

The SFBC offered a while ago some REALLY graphic sequential art
(forget the names) pretty much XXX rated. But hey, they’re better
then the children’s stories by Ernest Borgnine (that guy is really dark).

100 dollar bill. A REAL one. ;) Spent it on some DVDs, the britcom Keeping Us Appearances and Vol 2 of Sesame Street Old School.
No Time for Sergeants. The Andy Grifftith/Don Knotts film.
    Avatar Blu ray.
    Vacuum cleaner
Gumball machine that actually has jellybeans in it.
Some “As Seen on TV” storage containers. There’s so much writing on the box I’m afraid to use them. ha!
more sweets than I’ll eat all year.
Nifty house slippers that replace the ones with dog teeth marks on them I had before.
    Red shirt.
    Tablet of $1,000,000 bills.
Blood pressure wrist band. (I’m a little high)

Too much to name that I bought myself this year what with all the insane sales. No MST3K stuff this year. I still need to pick up 3 or 4 sets.

Can you give a little more of what you heard/read–like, what don’t they like particularly?
