One thing I do want to recommend is the panel discussion on the Devil Fish disk. It’s moderated by our pal Bill Stiteler and it’s a terrific example of how interesting an interview with the Brains can be when the interviewer doesn’t ask the same 10 stupid questions every other interviewer has asked. The discussion is fascinating and full of little bits of info I never knew before.
Most interesting (to me): Joel admits he pretty much wrote off Kevin in the early days, but slowly began to realize the talent that was there. “I was wrong about Kevin Murphy,” he says.

It looks like I’m waiting until Christmas for this package, but thanks for the tip, Sampo.

I’ve always understood the perceived necessity of asking those same 10 questions most interviewers ask, since they usually aren’t aiming for the MSTies exclusively. And it’s always nice to see someone try to break out of that box, even if it leads to a laughable, poorly-lit interview about the menace of robots (see tor.com – the mental image of Jim Mallon being chased through the streets by Gypsy is one I soon shan’t forget). I think another benefit to us, the MSTies, is that we now have the perspectives of time and distance. This, coupled with fresh questions, leads to a more insightful experience for fans. I say this based on interviews already in print, including Bill’s recent interview with Kevin, though not this one. (Since my praise might sound a little effusive, I’ll disclose that Bill Stiteler is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.)

Holy Crusted cracker, Batman! Thank goodness the Amazon distribution center is near my house. Tracking indicates the box set will be waiting for me when I get home!

Yeah!! More Best Buys carried it this time. I only had to go 20 miles to get it instead of 40.

So what’s the next figurine? Mike or Joel
in profile pointing up at the screen?
Personally, I’d like brain guy with brain pan-
although since he has no body it might be hard
    to see.

    Think about it. Won’t you?

Same as 11, mine came today. Gypsy goes between Tom and Crow, in Mike or Joel’s place till there’s a Mike or Joel figurine.

As usual, DeepDiscount has mine listed as “backordered”. Anybody else who ordered from there get the same thing? I don’t really like Amazon (I’m sure they’re great, but I don’t like to put for shipping), so I don’t want to have to go that route again.

I am like a little kid with getting stuff in the mail. When we got home tonight I looked in the front hall of our apt. my wife asked ” Did you get it?” I said ” NO! ” Sounding like my dog just died. :poop:

  16. I was a little apprehensive about the size of Gypsy but now that she’s on my desk next to Crow and Servo I have to say it looks great!

I’d like Mike/Joel but only a half figure/bust (because a full length figure just wouldn’t fit unless I cut a hole in my desktop).

  17. Or, I guess, I cut just cut the figure in half (LOL).

Laura: Amazon has free shipping if your order is $25 or more (although it is a bit slower and not shipped as quickly as paid shipping). I gave up on DD awhile back after many backorders.

My set has shipped via USPS (went with the free Super Saver shipping as always) and has an expected delivery date of next Monday, although based on past experience it will probably arrive by this weekend. :-D

I just checked out Amazon. There’s only a $.10 difference between the two companies. Unfortunately, I’m sticking with DeepDiscount. I’m just not that comfortable with Amazon yet. I have tried them before, but I don’t like all the crap they shove in my Inbox whenever I order something from there.

The review was nice but a little unfair in regards to what film gets on the dvd. It all a question of who has the copy rights and how much money they want. If you offer every unreleased episode copy right holder a butt of cash you can be sure every one would be available for sale next week. I am just happy the releases are coming out like clockwork. Vol 19 – 4 more…vol 20 four more, vol 21 four more …you get the picture

    EASTER EGG — DEVIL DOLL.

Part of Vol XIX DVD set is the episode “Devil Doll”. The DVD of this episode contains an Easter Egg.

From the Main Menu, cursor to EXTRAS.

Once highlighted, press the left button. This will highlight the red button on the console.

Press ENTER to watch a brief video called “We’ve Got Movie Sign!” : The Origin.

Any thoughts that the next figurine will be the satellite of love and not joel or mike? Just wondering.

The SOL would have to be rather large to be meaningful. But
    that might work.
How about a foldout mobile to hang above the other
    figurines? :-))

  27. Gary Bowden says:

@24 If they do a figurine,I’m sure it’ll be a Joel one, since all 4 episodes have Joel in them. What I’m hoping for is,for the extras,if they include TV WHEEL and STATICAL PLANETS.That would be great! Maybe some early clips/footage of Joel doing stand-up,too? I like the recent footage of the gang, but would like to see more earlier clips/footage,too.But,that might have to do with copyrights..

I bought mine yesterday. I walked into Best Buy, and there was a lone one sitting on the shelf. (Not necessarily the only one they had, probably only one at a time fits on the shelf).

I watched Robot Monster just now. Wow. That was definitely a WORSE movie than Manos. What the hell did those dinosaurs have to do with ANYTHING?! (A dream, I know; a stupid kid, I know). :X-P:

If anyone has 3-D glasses, if you watch this movie with them, it kinda works. The bubbles kinda sorta look like they’re comin’ at ya. :chic:

swh1939 @23: Thanks for the heads up about the Easter Egg!

I’m off to watch Bride of the Monster.

    Hired!

Bought the set at Best Buy yesterday. Watched DEVIL FISH first because I wanted to see the panel discussion included as an extra. I suspect a lot of convention discussions will turn up as extras since they’re easy to film, the cast is doing them anyway, and they’re always fun. And that’s fine with me, though the repetition noted is a problem.

ROBOT MONSTER is a classic of awful film-making. The director, if I understand correctly, was once quoted as saying, “For the budget and the time, I thought I’d achieved greatness.”
