Woohoo! This short killed at the theater I was at.

So, are the other shorts from these live events ever going to be made available? I would like to get my hands on the “north pole” short, the “grass” short, and of course the “paper” short . . . did I just miss something, or are these really being kept out of availability for some reason? Retained for a DVD shorts collection, perhaps?
I can only hope.

I completely forgot to download my free copy after the live show. All they’ve got on the goodies page now is a playable audio file, a postcard, and some avatars. Anyone know if I can still get a copy of the short? We didn’t see it at all because the theatre forgot to turn on the stupid projector, so we only thought there was one short… :C

Am I imagining things, or is that Christine Ebersol that used to be on SNL?

I seriously can’t believe anyone actually considers powered milk to be an acceptable replacement for the real stuff.
Heck outside of a few recipes that call for it I can’t see why the product even exists unless it was some sort of weird government mandate to farmers to do with their extra milk supplies.

The entire theater in Paramus made an involuntary BLECH sound in unison when she suggested powdered milk.
And dammit, pudding cups are worth the extra expense.

Yeah, the “Powdered Milk” remarks got a collecting “ewww” from our theater. As did the kid eating a very soupy pudding mix.
I lived in rural Alaska for a few years. The options were powdered milk for a gallon for nearly $10. While powered was preferred for cooking or with a lot of Quik, a lot of people sprang for the real thing for drinking.

Darn! I was hoping for the paper short to be released, as our theater lost satellite reception during 75% of that one.

I think I was being pursued by that apparition but I managed to lose her in the produce section.

I’m glad I downloaded that. I think I’ll watch it again right now!! :-D

My guess: since powdered milk is always proudly labeled “nonfat milk”, it’s probably an industrial by-product from the manufacture of cream and butter. It’s easy to imagine that complete extraction of butterfat from milk might produce residues even more watery and insipid than ordinary “skimmed milk”, so why not turn them into a (barely) salable product by turning them into a powder?

It’s not just you, “Rocky”…………I thought the exact same thing when I first saw her. :-)

Hypothesis: Powdered milk was invented for military/supply purposes wherein ordinary (i.e. good) milk would spoil.
Quick check of Wikipedia . . .
Result: Inconclusive, but definitely one of the major uses. Apparently there are quite a few ways to produce the stuff, and it’s used more widely than you might imagine. Just about as nutritious as the real deal, too, except it contains more free radicals that can cause health problems.
Or cause one to turn into a pretentious supermarket witch. Evidently.

(Can any of the Rifftrax folks who are active here answer the question in my earlier post?)

I’d wager that the only reason they released studio versions of the gasoline and grocery witch shorts is because they produced them as free digital goodies and hey, since they’re out there why not make them available for sale. You’ll probably have to wait until the live DVDs are eventually released to access the other shorts (although if for some reason Rifftrax chooses not to release any more live DVDs, please please please make the shorts available in some form).

Hmm. Not ideal. Nevertheless, I am willing to pay money for the studio versions, if they need evidence of a market for such . . . although obviously I can’t say how many others would be.

I will get to here lines “Can I have freedom now?” and “Will uncle ben have cut a witch?”
