Sci-Fi-London threw a “MST3K All Nighter” last weekend.

Here’s a nice report on it.

Sounds like it’d be just about the most fun night of all time. Wish someone local would do something similar.

What? Why are you looking at me like that? I watch MST3K all night by myself already. I meant someone with a theater or the like.

oh that is just TOO incredible to believe!!
the English are putting us to shame!
that an actual theater in London is having an MST3K all-nighter with
5 experiments back to back to back to back to back is so unreal it seems
    like a joke…….except it’s not-it’s actually happening.
come on America…England has thrown the gauntlet…I say let us rise and meet the challenge!

We could do a 30 hour marathon over Thanksgiving weekend…oh, wait. That’s been done before too.

Not Wild World Of Batwomen

The Brits hate us already. This one might force them over the edge.

I’d go with a Season Zero before I’d show THIS one.

It’s not a marathon but we’re working on the next MST3K show at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA for 10/22. Details coming soon. (For anyone that attended the Zombie Nightmare show in July, we’re looking to start a bimonthly show in 2011 *fingers crossed*)

Well, they have pretty great taste in episodes. Mostly.

That’d be pretty neat to see– MSTies UK. And it’s always fun to be the only one in the theater laughing. Too bad I’m on the wrong continent at the moment.

How do they get the rights to show these?

Also – I think it would be great if, instead of the crapfest they show before movies in theaters, they showed MSTie shorts, instead.

Usually to get the rights it’s a combination of contacting Shout! and the the film being riffed’s rights holder. It’s not always easy though.

What a great way to celebrate Oktoberfest! I’m gonna do just that: stay up, get drunk, watch MST3K and play German polka music.

I suppose they laughed at our funny accents and our weird words – elevators and trucks and raincoats ;-)

It’s always amazing fun. Sci Fi London has its main festival in May, as well as the Oktoberfest, so the MST3K all-nighter happens twice a year. This was my fifth or sixth one. Previously they’ve mixed it up with a bit of Cinematic Titanic and/or Rifftrax – at one memorable all-nighter we got the Rifftrax’d “Battlefield Earth” AND an unriffed “Star Wars Holiday Special”. (That was the night my brain exploded.) Also, sometimes they give you cool free stuff: one time I won an Xbox 360.

Given the UK was (obviously) the home of the ’60s British Invasion
they should feature an MST3000 song fest. Imagine Creepy Girl,
Patrick Swayze Christmas, Sodium, etc. in sets of 5, inbetween,
say, Manos, Mitchell, and Batwoman. :music:

Sounds like a blast and I wish I could have been there. Though they probably should have gone with Hellcats or Wild Rebels over Sidehackers if they wanted a really funny season 2 biker episode. Both of those are much funnier than Sidehackers as the movies themselves are quite lively and unintentionally amusing, while Sidehackers is a dismal film and hard to watch especially the first time. The first time we saw that episode we thought it wasn’t funny because we paid quite a bit of attention to the film the first time and it’s just horrible. Later viewings revealed that there were a lot of funny jokes because being familiar with the film after the first viewing we paid more attention to the MST3K treatment on later viewings. Like Manos, Sidehackers is very painful on a first viewing and not for beginners to the show, lest they be turned off and away before discovering how great MST3K can be.

“professional snarkers” – From the review

    I love this one.
I am going to have a badge made up saying this.

    Interesting selection of movies.
    Good review.

I had no idea that not everyone loved “Sidehackers”! They had me at sidehacking…also all the Rommel references (“you magnificent bastard”) never got old, either. I can see that it might not work that well for a casual fan after seeing three other mostly superior MST3Ks, though.

Mmm, I’m a long time fan and I’m not that fond of Sidehackers either. Not all MSTies are built alike.

It sounds like great fun though. I was at the Belcourt in Nashville for that charity event, when they showed Manos and Crawling Hand on the big screen (we got free beer and mexican food with our ticket too). I had the time of my life and wish there were more events like this. Hey Mr. Mallon, think you could put together a nation wide MST showing at theaters, kind of what Rifftrax live does?
