Stone Bistro and Brewery in San Diego will be showing “Twilight: New Moon” with Rifftrax commentary (pre-recorded, not live) tomorrow night. More info here.
And, if you attended the show last Thursday, you got this one as a freebie. If you didn’t, here’s your chance to pick up:
A cautionary tale about NOT, repeat, NOT washing your clothes in tubs of gasoline! Whew! Glad somebody told me!
Get it here.
I’ll be attending the encore show in Burlington, NJ. Talk about a lot cheaper! $10 compared to $12.50!

Burlington, eh? Right across from the Burlington Center. My old stomping grounds!
And for those of you keeping count – “More Dangerous Than Dynamite” is the 96th complete short to be released by RiffTrax.

And I have them all!
This (and the “Grass” short) were two of the funniest ones I have ever heard Mike and the gang do (even counting MST3K). What a riot – the bizarre subject made it all the more interesting.

I submitted that short to mythbusters. In the short they say that gasoline is like 83x more explosive than dynamite. “Then why aren’t we using Gas as dynamite!” — Kevin (i think)

Yeah, neither of the two El Paso theaters that showed it live are showing the encore. Lame. Ah well, I’ll just have to pick up the DVD when it comes out. (He said as if he wasn’t already planning to do so.)

I couldn’t go to the live show and the encore wasn’t playing near me (the other 2 encores did, however), but I got the webpage for the free stuff. ;-) This short is a great one! I laughed a lot at it (animated fire…it burns!). That one is perfect for a live show!

You also get the free digital goodies if you attended tonight’s encore showing. I took my son to the encore showing tonight. There were only about 10 other people as usual at the theater in Bowie, MD. It was the same for the other Rifftrax shows we’ve seen there, though the other times we went to the live simulcast rather than the encore. Nevertheless, it was hilarious and there was good audience response without it obscuring the jokes. We really enjoyed the three shorts and even the little shorts done with the narration of the 5-year-old girl. Tight show, no dead space, no add-on guest acts that brought the comedy to a halt as happened here and there in the past. Tickets tonight at the theater were only $10 each! Really looking forward to House On Haunted Hill as the movie with and without Rifftrax is a cheesy favorite at my house for years.

This was a good one, but come on we need the grass short yesterday!

It’s too bad they chose to release this one first. It’s great, but anyone who went to the live show has it already, and I was really looking forward to seeing the Grass short again. Hopefully that will be released soon.

Went to the show at the Regal in Burlington NJ as my local theater chose not to show the encore. For the first time out of the three shows, the sound and picture were very good and no glitches!
There were about maybe 20 in attendance (and Laura, I assume).

I went to a theater on Long Island for the encore (didn’t get to make it to the first show) and they started it at 7 instead of 7:30! I missed the first half of the grass short and I’m assuming “More Dangerous than Dynamite.” Very annoying!

@Fingal
I was going to submit that one too to the Mythbusters. Thanks for going that.
@DarthServo:
I wasn’t at the first showing. Somehow I couldn’t justify spending $12.50 for one ticket. However, I did thoroughly enjoy the show. Lauren’s shorts were just a little too short (no pun intended), and just not that easy to follow. But then, it was done by a 5-year-old so I can’t say much there. Since it was my first time seeing “Reefer Madness”, I was very entertained. I hope when they do it again in October, it shows there again!

By the way, the raw, un-MiSTed version of More Dangerous Than Dynamite is to air on Turner Classic Movies (US feed) at 5:45 am Eastern, after the TCM Underground, the September 3 overnight (that is, by the calendar, it’ll actually be the 4th).
TCM’s gotten to showing all sorts of weird little shorts around this time block; for example, at 5:30 am Eastern that same night they’re showing The House In The Middle, described as “Military tests demonstrate the dangers of poor home maintenance in the event of a nuclear attack”; certainly I worry about that un-patched drywall and how the bathroom door sticks after my nuclear attacks.
(And neatly enough all this is after they show The House On Haunted Hill.)

We almost made it through with no glitches which would have been a first. What could go wrong, after all they are showing a recording that is stored in-house for the encore? Well, just after the police finish raiding the apartment with about 10 minutes to go in the entire show first they lost the picture, then the whole thing stopped entirely. When the theater employee started messing with it to try and get it going again we were actually treated to a Microsoft Windows message window, which caused much laughter and jokes at Microsoft’s expense. When the show finally came back on after a delay of about 15 minutes it was on the seen where the girl is spilling her guts in front of the judge in his chambers, so a couple minutes of the show were never shown properly. Something always seems to go wrong at these Rifftrax Live shows even when they are not live.

I came in a couple minutes late and left a couple minutes early so I didn’t get the free digital goodies password. Someone whisper it to me please. ;-)

Only about 20 of us for the encore in Portage, IN (for some reason the usual theater I go to in Schererville wasn’t carrying the encores for the first time). This might be my favorite live show yet; whereas the first one came to a screeching (and I do mean screeching) halt when Coulton came on and WOULDN’T GO AWAY and the second one had the dull swimming short, this one had no dead zones. Even the Lowtax shorts weren’t completely awful, and I honestly thought they’dve been better served to be longer and more rambling (sort of like when they did Little Boggy’s story during the credits of Boggy Creek 2). The Grass short easily ranks among the best work any riffing group has ever done. Having never seen their riff of Reefer Madness, I was greatly entertained.

I was one of 8 people at the encore showing in my city. Both the shorts and Reefer Madness (which I had never seen before, riffed or un-) and their riffs were drop-dead hilarious and the tiny audience was very appreciative. I also loved seeing the 3 guys at work during the show. I hope there will be a DVD of this show – I will definitely buy it.

Was it just me or did the Aesop short just end in the blink of an eye? Seems like it just jumped into the second Lowtax short. Very pleased with the show though.

is there no way to download the short from the goodies page? its great having access to it but would be nice to be able to archive it or burn it to a dvd for the day when the internet falls and we have to fend for ourselves against the mutants.

There was, but we decided for the time being to make it only available as a stream, now that it’s up for download. If anything changes in that regard we’ll let you know.
