Beez McKeever, Trace Beaulieu, Clive Robertson, and Darkstar creator J. Allen Williams will be appearing in a Darkstar panel at DragonCon on Friday, September 3. A special teaser for the game will be shown, followed by a Q&A session. The final, official release schedule will also finally, officially be announced.
Don’t know what Darkstar is? Click the link at the bottom left corner of this page.
It’s about frickin’ time!!! I just hope it’s been worth the 10+ years we’ve been waiting.
I still can’t believe this isn’t a joke. Everything about it from Peter Graves’s voiceover to the participation of one of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils just screams “April fools” here.
Forgive my skepticism, but we’ve heard this tune before…
Why not? Stranger things have happened, like the release of Starcraft II this Tuesday.
I hope that this really does happen (the release; the panel is pretty much for sure). It’s been a long process but it looks good from what I’ve seen.
Coming soon for Windows 95.
I’m stoked about this. I’ve been eager for updates on this project ever since I first read about it. By ‘official release schedule’, I hope they mean that we’ll finally get a release date for the game. It’s supposed to be very close to finished.
Are you serious???!!! Everytime I’ve just about forgot about this game altogether, there seems to be some sort of announcement! That said, this seems pretty darn official… I may actually see this in my lifetime… can’t believe it! Now I’m just waiting for Amber Fish to finish Fate of Atlantic 2! LOL, maybe my grandkids will see that happen!
10 years too late and 3 operating systems short. Or…has it been closer to 15 years?
Honestly, when I saw the screenshots for this 5+ years ago, they already looked 5+ years out of date.
Maybe it’ll be released in a double package with Riven…
Is this the game that was going to have the soundtrack by Rush but apparently negotiations fell through and now it won’t?
I’ll believe Darkstar is actually ready to go when Joel himself is seen previewing the final playable version it on YouTube. Till then, I’m taking this as yet another tease in a long line of teasers.
So it’s not the latest button masher thing or whatever. I play out of date games all the time, because they are still fun and challenging. Darkstar looks like a game I might actually use my brain for more than my reflexes.
Beez!!! Oh I sure hope I can get her to sign my ACEG!!
When (if) this game is finally released, it will feel like a end of an era for me.
More Beez…PLEEZ!
ety3 – Coming soon for Windows 95.
That’s actually a VERY good point. I’m sure they’ve tested it with Windows 7, right? Right?!
“I’m sure they’ve tested it with Windows 7, right? Right?!”
.
What’s the difference, “Gizmonic”…………by the time it actually ships, Windows 8 will have come and gone, Windows 9 will have reached the end of it’s operational viability, and Windows 10 will have just been released…………..of course, it is at that point that the producers of this “interactive movie” will realize that the difficulty of trying to get all of their ancient computer code to run on cutting-edge systems with the new operating system installed is just too difficult (and costly) a feat to pull off, and so, will decide to start all over, beginning with the shooting (or computer-generating, as is now commonly done) of all new “footage”……
Wow, you MST3K fans can be real assholes when you think you’re actually riffing something like Joel and the bots. NEWSFLASH – You’re not funny and you’re certainly not helping an chance of this games success.
Firstly, none of you critics have seen or played the game so why don’t you give it a chance before burning it to the ground. Secondly, if you all actually followed the game on FB or Twitter, you’d know that it’s been complete for a year, but the futile negotiations with RUSH and the corporate hacks at Universal have been delaying any hope of a release date. Thirdly, the game actually will work better on newer versions of your PCs and Macs, so this “Windows 95” **** is as unsubstantiated as it is arrogant and mean-spirited. Fourthly, the release date WILL BE announced at this panel! And finally, do you jack-offs even realize that ONE MAN put this whole damn thing together COMPLETELY OUTSIDE OF THE MAINSTREAM!?!? Have you ever noticed that ONE NAME is credited with prop design, editing, animating, writing, producing, and directing!? None of your wasted and useless accomplishments can compare to what this man has done by himself with all of you talentless hacks breathing down his neck.
To the all the naysayers, get a life… To everyone else, happy days!
I look forward to playing this! The trailers are spectacular…
PS. You’re asswipes, Aaron, ety3, TarlCabot, GizmonicTemp, and especially SAVE FERRIS. We don’t really need some savior to stop us from spending the meager $20 it will cost to play this game, so go crawl back into your basements and crush another independent project.
O to be young again. Darkstar, Rush, MST3K the 3 connections in one space. I remembering surfing the net back in the day on Cable Modem following the evolution of this movie and at the same rediscovering Rush. Yes, this is strange but this movie caused me to dig back into the catalog and become a fan again.
Speaking of which, the Darkstar wikipedia article has been deleted. I think Rifftrax is also on speedy deletion or something this month (September 2010). Someone at Wikipedia has a beef to pick or three.
