The Mondo interview is great, actually covers a little bit of new ground. And I love DVDtalk!

As usual Joel gives a great interview. I have said so many good things about the media and Cinematic Titanic that I am at the risk of sounding redundant. So any how … Great interview, Joel as par for the course is witty and delightful while still being humble. He is the person you want for a uncle or brother instead of the one you have now. What is taking so long on the human clones already? I’ll guess I’ll just have to wait until a show comes near to finally meet all the riffers.

Joel, such a class act! He seems like a great guy. I’m really glad they have had so much success with Cinematic Titanic.

Joel is the nicest guy in show biz (from the limited sample of people I have met). I met him at a post show Cinematic Titanic meet and greet and he was very patient with camera trouble I was having and willingly posed for about 3-4 takes of pictures and of course also autographed my ACEG. He was great to talk to and stayed around to talk to everyone there, he was even the last of the Titans to leave. Class act all around!

In the Joel interview he says of leaving MST that it was mostly due to The Movie…that he did not feel he was going to be able to keep the product the way he wanted…his control of how The Movie was being developed was leaving him.
My question is……..or, what I’d like to know, is, and, does anyone know this?….what did Joel want The Movie to be like? Did Joel ever extend his thoughts and ideas for how HE would have presented The Movie?
thanks

I like the reviews, but I do have to point out that the first and third reviews linked are in fact the same reviews, just on two different websites. I think Sampo can take out one of those two reviews at some point.
My frustration comes from EZTakes, and I guess I will sideline the thread and ask here: Has anyone gotten EZTakes to work? I dl’ed the program, and then when I click on it, nothing would happen. I certainly could be doing something wrong, but for whatever reason I can’t get it to work.

@Matt
Are your EZTake files on an external harddrive? That will happen if you do. I know. It’s happened to me before because I do forget sometimes. Those files take up A LOT of room.

#6 raises an interesting question I’ve never seen addressed. I know Joel wanted to direct the movie, and some sort of falling out with Jim over that was at the core of his departure, but Joel’s always been too classy to share more than that with us. (And good for him – it’s really none of our beeswax.)
That said, I’d love to know how Joel would’ve handled the movie, or what he thinks of how it came out. (Probably happy he didn’t have to deal with the stuffed suits at Gramercy, I’d wager.)

@crowschmo – thanks for pointing that out! I thought I was the only one bothered by that!
@Matt — the EZTakes downloader is for downloading .iso images of the DVDs — you need a blank DVD, a DVD burner and at least 5GB of free space on your hard drive. You can also download smaller media files to play on your PC or media player directly from their site, so I’d try that if the downloader just won’t work for you for whatever reason.
I’ve gotten all of the CTs from EZTakes, and haven’t had an issue.

I have also purchased a few CTs from EZTakes with no problems. You may need to turn off your firewall or at least adjust it to allow EZTakes to do its thing.

All right, thanks guys for all the help. I’m gonna try it soon, as I do have space and a DVD burner and all that.

EZTakes has always worked fine for me. I don’t have a DVD burner, so I either convert the files to AVI, watch them directly on the computer using VLC Player, or put the actual DVD files on a flash drive to watch in my DVD player, which has a USB port. All three methods seem to work, though the AVI files occasionally have some audio sync issues. Pretty sure that’s my own fault, though.

Just finished watching “Danger on Tiki Island” (AKA “Brides of Blood” on Netflix) and I have to agree with Michael Rubino’s review.
The only exception I had with his review is that I feel this IS the best show Cinematic Titanic has yet done. (East Meets Watts a close second)
I prefer them live because it is as close to MST3K as they, or RiffTrax, have done. The problem with both these fine casts is that they forget that we liked THEM as much as their riffs.
MST3K holds special places in our heats not only for the movies, but for the bots, Mike, Joel, Dr. F., Frank, Ms. Forrester, Bobo, Brain Guy, and all the characters who stopped by the SOL. The studio “Cinematic” does try and interject characters, but they set up is not the same. Rifftrax, of course, can’t stop the films for skits, like they did in “Film Crew.” The “host segments” are as much a part of our enjoyment as the movie.
The live shows, of both RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic, allow us to once again enjoy good friends.
The only other problem with the live shows is that the end to abruptly. The movie ends and the cast waves good-by and walks off the stage. They should have a better closing.
We obviously want more and a better send off to their loyal fans, both old and new, would be more appropriate.
