Bill sells movie script

Bill Corbett and his Poker Night writing partner, Rob Greenberg, have sold a spec script entitled STARSHIP DAVE to Paramount Pictures. Bill tells us that it’s “a sci-fi comedy with a bit of romantic comedy thrown in for good measure.” Variety gives a few more details:

Story’s launched with a massive fireball from space hitting New York’s Central Park, followed by an ordinary man emerging unscathed from the gigantic crater. The man turns out to be a spaceship operated by 100 human-looking aliens who are one-quarter inch tall and seeking a way to save their planet; complications ensue when their captain falls in love with an Earth woman who’s always picked losers for previous romances.

Bill says that, like any screenplay, the odds are against it ever getting made. “But,” he adds, “we’ll give it a shot, and hope for the best, and pray that it doesn’t wind up as a MST3K fodder-type flick if / when it’s finished.”
