Hmm. Something in this interview stuck out at me. I’d heard/read this point before, but it didn’t really sink in until now:
“It is about the same but the process is different. Back then we would all meet in a room and write while we looked at a TV. Now we are all over and we write separately and then converge. So, in that way it was easier, to be all in the same room…”
I think that’s what some people are missing in CT. By working together at the same time, the MST3k writers developed their riffs more easily into a conversation.
I like CT, and will continue to look forward to shows in my area and new DVD releases. But I do feel a more conversational tone to the MST3k episodes, and I can see why some people would prefer to have that.

You know, Joel always comes across as a very thoughtful guy with a lot of class. I dig that guy the most.

Zappa! When I asked them at the ’94 Conventio-Con which of them were the Zappa fans (as there are SO MANY references to The Maestro’s work in the episodes – see the Ward E section: https://www.mst3kinfo.com/ward_e/listzap.html), Kevin responded that all of them were fans. It’s still nice to see him credited again as an inspiration. I can certainly relate!
