“Arrives March 29, the day BEFORE the movie hits video stores (which is on a Saturday and not the usual Tuesday street date, for some reason).”
They did that with the last one too, if I remember correctly. I’m pretty sure it’s so everyone in the primary demographic can make it to the midnight release (another unique aspect). It means less DVD sales if it’s a school night, I reckon.
I’ll certainly be picking up the Rifftrax sometime in the future. They did so well on the first one.

Those movies are the best paired with Rifftax…I’ve seen MSTed movies better then those movies..

OMG!!!!!!1111!!!! haha I sound like a Twi-tard. I’m excited for this Rifftrax. My sisters will probably buy the film, so I’ll borrow their copy for the riff.
The DVD comes out on March 20, so Sampo must mean the riff comes out on the 19th.

hMMM. I don’t know. I could stand Manos, but to have to watch a Twilight movie to get a rifffix…?

ahh a must get- the first riff was so great. This next movie also has wonderful fodder.

WOOHOO!!!!
Random question: If the DVD comes out on the 20th, how is Rifftrax able to release a DVD-compatible track the day before? Do they have access to the DVD before the rest of us lowly peons?
So I went to see New Moon with a friend of mine. She’s into Twilight. I adore my friend, but the movie? Wow…

I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, here’s what I told my sister, who’s my MST3K partner in crime, after seeing the movie. “I honestly think it would be harder to riff ‘The Final Sacrifice’ than ‘New Moon.'” I’m serious. The characters in FS are MUCH more likable, for example (I seriously wanted to slap half the people in New Moon), and the FS dialogue, or most of it, is competently delivered. If you want to hear dialogue delivered in New Moon, imagine two hours of Troy’s “FOOD!!”, and you’ll know what it’s like.
There’s a part in the movie where a “thuggish” motorcycle gang rolls into town, and the ringleader looks EXACTLY like Philip Seymour Hoffman. This kept cracking me up in the theatre, and I am SO hoping that Kevin, Mike, and Bill pick up on this. :-)

@CG #9 I’ve wondered about how they can release Rifftrax so close to DVD releases as well. They must have a source for getting the films ahead of time, or maybe they can actually get screeners from the studios. Could it be that some of the studios realize that a Rifftrax will actually expose their DVDs to a whole new audience of people that would otherwise never even think about buying them, and actually cooperate with the fellas?
As for why the Rifftrax is being released a day before the DVD I’d say the obvious answer is so they don’t have to work on a Saturday to do it.

“Four dollars for two hours worth of quality entertainment?! What a rip-off!”

Really REALLY looking forward to this. The first “Twilight” riff is right up their with the best of MST3K, minus the puppets and the skits.

Troll

One can imagine that to “feed” such a person would be to grant them the attention or reaction they are craving.

The first “Twilight” riff came out a month after the DVD was released. I know this detail intimately because we’d assumed since no official Rifftrax came out for it at launch that there’d be no problem doing an iRiff of it and not crossing over with the official guys. Ours came out the Monday after the Saturday the first Twilight DVD was released. Then a couple weeks later MBK announced they were going to do it. Still, people liked ours a lot so we did New Moon and had a midnight release party for it! Huzzah! Sadly the iRiffs upload server is not up so we had to go about selling it a bit differently, but still, it’s up and available (if you just can’t get enough Twi-riffing).

Hahaha.
A common misconception my friend.
No, the excellent gentlemen at Rifftrax are not granted special favors by distributors of movies. That would be silly.
No, you see, Mike, Kevin, and of course Bill, are endowed with special powers that let them see into the future and, thus, compose their riffs.
It is the same thing they did with Iron Man 2, which has been in the can for a month and a half now.
See, it is all very simple. Just quantum mechanics. That’s all.

To everyone apprehensive about having to watch the movie: don’t be. Even without the RiffTrax, it was one of the most hilarious movies I’ve seen in years.
