That was a good review. I’ve now fully embraced the “live” format for the CT DVDs. It really was fun to see crew perform the riffing. I think the movie helps too. “East Meets Watts” was fun-bad and a refreshing change from the dull-bad foreign horror movies that were used by CT.

I found East Meets Watts to be dissapointing, just not one of their better ones, the live format dosnt healp. It’s cool you like it but I wish they would return to pre-recorded studio format.

I find nothing wrong with the live format and wouldn’t mind if they did more.Sure,I like the studio versions, but somehow this one adds more energy than the others.I think maybe you get the see the faces of the performers and the flubs add that much more to the fun.Sometimes I feel that the studio versions can be kind of stiff, but not in all cases,of course.Once in a while.I love this one and have watched it more than the others.Maybe I just like bad martial art/blaxploitation movies from the 70’s,I suppose..Keep up the great work guys!!

Does anyone know if they’re going back to the studio DVD? If they don’t, I’ll be very disappointed. When I talked to Joel(!!!) the last time CT came to San Francisco, he said that there was a backstory developing as each DVD came out. It would really suck if they’ve abandoned that. The live stuff is fun, but would you really want MST live all the time? The host segments wouldn’t be the same at all. Sorry. Just needed to bitch. Carry on. :)

East Meets West blows the rest of the episodes out of the water. I hope they go back to the studio episodes but I’ll be fine with live show dvds if they’re all as good as East Meets Watts.

To me I think CT live is as close to host segments as we’re going to get. One of the joys that I get out of MST3K is seeing the performances in the host segments. I felt like I got some of that when I was watching East Meets Watts.

Got a ? Did the mute girlfriend die or was she just injured? If she was dead Stud’s good mood at the film’s end was a bit off kilter. If she was only hurt why wasn’t she going with Stud and “not Bruce Lee”. maybe Stud was such a stud that he could swing both ways and was now dating not-Bruce. And what happened to the asian girlfriend Fon? And what about Scarecrow’s brain.
