Cool beans, even if I have them all on DVD already.

And there are still people posting on RATMM? Will wonders never cease?

    “Presented by Shout Factory”.

Guess that answers the question of what happened to the rights of the Rhino published episodes. Everything has been transferred to SF.

Maybe Shout will do us a favor and fix some of the errors some Rhino eps had. Hopefully they’ll at least address the dark video of Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders at some point.

Seems like a pretty nice cross-section of episodes here, although something like Phantom Planet or Mole People would really represent that “classic” mid-century sci-fi genre that might appeal to someone new to the show. Hopefully this will bring more people around to MST3K. “One of us, one of us!”

It makes you think that there’s still a MST3K folder on AOL, still moderated by Rembert.

As if Hulu didn’t already have a great selection of shows. I still haven’t seen the Starfighters (let alone own the DVD set it’s on…yet) so this is a treat. And as said before, nice to have confirmation that the Rhino ep rights transferred to Shout.

Oh and in a nice bit of coincidental synchronicity, if you go to Hulu’s front page and look at the “recently added” splash page, 1st up is a big pic of Joel and the ‘bots (yay) but then if you click on the second item in the queue, you’ll see that seven Godzilla movies were added too. Makes me very happy as both a MST and a kaiju fan. :D

#2, that’s not 100% true. This is from Shout! Factory’s Brian Ward on the message board:

RE: Old MST3K volumes that are out of print
There are also some legal hoops through which we’d have to jump, to re-release older titles. See, we may have the license to MST3K, but like us, Rhino also had to license the individual films, which they did for a certain number of years. While they may not be able to release anymore MST3K titles, they still have the exclusive rights to certain movies. So we can’t actually release any titles they still hold those rights for.

Was everyone’s copy of Merlin unwatchably dark or just some of them?

Why, this could revolutionize wasting time at work!

And yup, ratmm’s still around, kind of, although it isn’t so overwhelmingly busy at it once was.

MERLIN’S has built-in glare protection. Shout! should be so innovative as Rhino!

So, does this mean that those five titles are now out of print and broadcast versions can again be traded?

Though I would like to see some Mike episodes, great selection on Shout!’s part. I can always go for some ‘Monster A-Go-Go, and ‘I’ve been eager to see ‘The Giant Gila Monster’.

Having just bought volume 5 in the last week from Amazon.com I can say that Rhino never fixed the dark video of Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders and Time Chasers. Any hope of a change will have to come from Shout Factory.
