In the topsy-turvy, on-and-off-again world of the “Giant Gila Monster” single disc sales, it appears that it’s back on. If you haven’t bought your copy yet, you should probably order now before Rhino pulls the plug again.
Thanks to John for the head’s up.
In other news, Rhino has been linked to illicit hotel liason with Shout! Factory. Rhino to resign. Shout! Factory stands to make millions…

Done.
I must say, I’m impressed Rhino didn’t up the price after it’s been clear some people would pay GIANT GREEN for GIANT GILA. I figured another pressing was likely, just not at the same low price of the first. So kudos there.
Now, if I can just get the damn thing this time, all will be well.

I got mine a few days ago. And like all MST3K dvds I get from Rhino, it’s glitchy as hell.
I can’t wait till Shout gets the license.

Well, I for one think this is just ridiculous. Since I got my copy in the mail last Saturday, I’ve been feeling vastly superior to most everyone. Now what am I supposed to do? Having a Giant Gila Monster dvd was all I had going for me…oh well. Better get back to my job as bellhop for the Master…

If I read right a few months ago that Shout! will be releasing new episodes sometime in June! Come on all ready I am bored! Come out with the anouncement of 4 more eps!! Thank you Rhino for what you have done with the past releases ( especially listening to MISTIES by releasing Giant Gila as a single ). But I can’t wait to buy those Shout! eps!!!!

i was hoping that pricing would be better on shout! but i doubt it. i forgot the sctv discs were all 60-70 bucks when i got em. i realize the licensing of the movies is an expense, but i really can’t afford 50 bucks for a four disc set. i would think budget pricing would move more product. oh well, i’m happy with crappy boots anyhow.

I’m curious anyone that bought 10.2 (the set not just the Gila Monster) does it have a little glitch in the Soda Jerk sketch like it does on the single copies?

Oooooooh! That glitch made me mad!

THAT GLITCH…It’s as if Rhino stuck it’s MST-blood stained horn in one last time and twisted….TWISTED….ONE…LAST…TIME!!!…(Sorry, popped into Shatner mode for a moment..) I guess I’m okay with it… Oh no, here it comes again…..KHAN!!!!!!!!

I’m sure it does, Fred P. I mean, the disc is literally taken from 10.2. It SAYS Volume 10.2 on it, for crying out loud.

Oh, excuse me. I meant…(ahem)…KAHN!!!
BTW, my hope is that Shout Bros put out episodes that are not only easy to get the rights to, but ones that we really want to see! I have been a fan since about 94 or so, when I first caught a glimpse of Mr. B Natural on the MST3k Hour, but really only was able to watch MST on SciFisince about 98 or so. Eventually a complete set would be great, but I’m sick of some of the half-rear end poo that gets issued simply cause its the easiest thing to get rights to. Gimme some real meat, dagnabit!!! I want the goods! An Ed Wood 4-pack for starts!!! I’ve bought his films without any commentary, and I’d love to see if MST3K’s riffs can match the ones I’ve worked up over the years…heck, right now my dog is jumping up and barking at Night of the Lepus on tv(he’s got skills, bro)… anyway, to quote Charles Schultz (and Mike N) “All I want is what’s coming to me. All I want is my fair share.”

here go the msties again complaining about a little glitch
I suppose if the DVD sleeve has a tiny fold on a corner there would be riots in the streets.
My copy wasn’t bad at all, the movie I watched all the way through, the bonus features were cool. I think all this whining is more of a psychological thing that what really is. Rhino had made mistakes all these minor imperfections are getting to be a bit much. Im hoping somewhere out there DrRhino is giving all the over dramatizing crybabies, the ones that whine over the most minuscule things the bird..l..

People, the glitch has nothing to do with Rhino. It’s probably on the master tape. Don’t forget, these masters are OLD and were probably played several times when the show was run and rerun on Comedy Central. I personally am thrilled to have a dvd copy finally because the videotaped copy I have is second generation of someone else’s grainy copy. And HOW CAN ANYONE COMPLAIN ABOUT A STUPID, MILLISECOND GLITCH WHEN THERE’S A BRAND-NEW JOEL, FRANK AND FORRESTER SKETCH ON THE DISC??? Wow, you guys should really just relax…

Agreed with Steve. If it weren’t for Rhino, I’m doubtful we’d have seen so many episodes get officially released (if any at all). Honestly, the positives far outweigh the negatives as far as Rhino is concerned.
And now all super-intense fan scrutiny falls on Shout Factory, poor bastards.

Finally got my copy this week! Though I was a little disappointed that it was in a cardboard sleeve and not a real case. Come on, Rhino, we all would have shelled out at least $15 for a release is a regular DVD packaging.
And, what’s the deal with Frank doing Tom Servo’s voice on the 10.2 Upgrade feature? Does it have to do with Kevin being on Rifftrax?

No “we” wouldn’t.

Why DID they have Frank do Servo’s voice? I thought the whole time that Josh was going to do it…

Shenny than why for crying out loud did it take so many extra weeks past when 10.2 came out to get it. It’s a fair question, and I wasn’t that bothered about it I’m just curious if it was on the pressing that went into the 10.2 sets or if it was a glitch that occurred in the second run. That’s all I’m asking and if you don’t know don’t bother responding!!!

How great was it to see a new Joel/Frank/Dr Forrester sketch!!! Slight complaint: why didn’t Kevin do the voice for Servo? Oh well, it was still fun to see the old team back together. Shout Factory, if you’re listening we would love more stuff like this!

I am so glad I pre-ordered my copy early on the first time around. I’m even glader the thing finally shipped! Man, that took forever! Even so, given the “10.2 Upgrade” bonus feature on the disk, it was worth the wait. I don’t even mind the lame packaging either… I can make my own DVD cover and cram it in spare case.
And as for all of you who haven’t bought the single of Giant Gila Monster yet (or got the full 10.2 set) jump on this puppy now before it disappears, leaving you having to shell out $50 to get it off of eBay.

The glitch looked digital to me. It did not look like a tape hit (meaning it probably happened during the pressing of the master disc and is not on the Best Brains master tape.)

Put my order in…Rhino says it’s on backorder. Here we go again…

I took my original Volume 10 boxset and put the new disc in the slot where the catalog goes by slightly widening the hole with an exacto knife. It looks really cool when you open the set up!
I don’t really mind that Frank did Servo’s voice. He sounded a lot like Josh’s Servo up until the point he started singing, “Sooner or later love is gonna getcha”. Well, that makes FOUR voices for Servo now…

You took a KNIFE to your Volume 10?!? Are you mad? You just reduced the resale price of your box set! These are COLLECTIBLES, man! COLLECTIBLES!

Yeah, I though Frank did a fine job as Servo. And I thought the sketch was super cool. No complaints here.
As far as pricing goes on the Shout! Factor discs, somebody above stated that the SCTV discs were pretty expensive, but I think that could probably be attributed to royalties that had to be paid to the record companies for the musical acts on those episodes.
I would think that the MST discs would be less expensive, or at the very least, that we’d get more bonuses, etc. for the price. That seems to be a policy with Shout! — their deluxe FREAKS & GEEKS set in the McKinley yearbook is a wonder to behold, and if just a percentage of that creativity makes it into their MST3K offerings, I’ll be a happy king.

My only have one complaint with shout factory’s extra features. Whenever they have an interview with someone they always add fotage for the show to pad out the interview and then they have a 30 second long credit sequince. With Rhino, throught the entire interveiw the camera is always on whoevers being interviewed

I got my Gila DVD.
I’m a little disappointed about the glitch in the soda shop skit (one of my favorites in the series).
We should still applaud Rhino for making the individual DVD’s of this one available (even though they goofed it with the glitch).
They could’ve said to the fans, “Too bad. You want Gila; buy the set (again)”.

Just got a shipping confirmation this afternoon. At frickin’ last! Now the 4-10 day wait begins. *sigh*
To anyone else who ordered after they put this back up on the Rhino site late last week – if you haven’t also gotten a “shipped” confirmation yet, you likely will very soon from the look of things.
I can’t believe there are still suckers paying $20+ on eBay for this disc – pay attention, people. All told, mine was less than $12 shipped. What ‘tards…

Mine just shipped today too. No CC problems this time.
Huzzah!

Ok, I know this discussion is forever old, but I just got my copy of the 10.2 and noticed that there was no catalog…did anyone here get the 10.2 and not receive it? It’s like there’s not supposed to be anything there because the slot isn’t even open, just pressed. I’m not trying to be super OCD, but it bothers me and I can’t find an answer online. Thanks all!
