  1. Alright! I hate this movie. The worst part about it is that now I’m going to buy the dvd and support garbage films like this!

Yay! I remember sitting in the theater thinking, “Boy, I hope they do a Rifftrax of this.”

I’ve checked over the rifftrax site and can’t find this info quickly or easily. So, “good job “whoever gets the early scoop.

I remember seeing it in 3d thinking, this is going to suck on dvd in 2d. They still have all the “ZOMG!!1! LOOK! ITS IN 3D” moments, but now they’re just laughable.

At least now I have an excuse for my girlfriend, so I can watch a fake Angelina. “Its a Rifftrax, Honey. I can’t help that they picked this movie” :P

  6. “The worst part about it is that now I’m going to buy the dvd and support garbage films like this!” I just don’t buy the rifftrax unless it’s a movie I own or wouldn’t mind getting even if there wasn’t a rifftrax made for it.

So Connor is a writer? I was under the impression that Mike, Bill and Kevin did all the writing.

I’m just bummed because Mike, Kevin and Bill have aparently give up on FC and are concentrating on a system and technology that I have no knowledge of, and no interest in learning about! If i cant see and feel the product, pop it into my machine and enjoy it on my tv, I aint buying into it!

    I agree with post 7.
I have no interest in rifftrax or this online riffing stuff.
Personaly, I would like to see more FC or CT.
Heck. Why don’t everybody kiss and make up and produce more MST3K ! Or MST4K the next generation !
Sorry about being a hater of rifftrax, folks.
Just think its a waste of time.

I like RiffTrax as a concept, but with the lack of an on-screen presence from Mike, et al it just doesn’t feel the same. If they could come up with some way to animate themselves onto the screen, ala the SOL “theater” that would seal it for me.

  11. Well posts 7 and 8 are missing out as some of the best riffing these guys have ever done has occurred during many a Rifftrax.

BSBrian, the process really is a lot less difficult as you make it out to be.

    Buy the track.
    Load the DVD.
    Play the track.
Play the DVD (when Mike tells you).

It’s easier than making a pot of coffee these days.. unless you have that single-cup coffee machine. Those things are awesome.

It would be nice if Mac users could use the RiffTrax Player. I might try RiffTrax if that were possible.

  14. Joey Joe Joe says:

Post #12 is correct. If you know how to use an mp3 player and want to watch the riff on your TV, load the riff file onto your mp3 player, throw the DVD in your TV’s DVD player, and listen to the riff intro for sync instructions.

If you want to watch it on your computer it’s even easier. Download the Rifftrax Player, load the .Riff file of the riff you want to watch into the player, throw the DVD in and it automatically syncs. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

In other words, unless you’re terrified of technology (and since you’re posting on the net I’m guessing you’re not) then viewing Rifftrax is easy. Join us, won’t you?

For you young-uns and tech-heads like Erik and Joe-Joe, it really DOES get a lot easier than that–throw in the dvd and sit back and enjoy! No i dont have an mp3 player (and hopefully never will)–my kids mp3’s/ipods have all taken a crap and been replaced already, along with all of their music! Sure, i may be missing out on some things(but i’m not!)but i also realise there is a price to pay for everything, and with the newest tech you get the newest and costliest headaches!!

I spend a few hours remixing the DVD with the Rifftrax. I put the comments in the rear surround channels and then ReJig it all back together, burn a DVD and then I have one disc that’s synced and plays on my 55inch widescreen.

It’s pretty cool. Sounds like Mike and crew are sitting behind me in a theater cracking wise.

Yeah. I don’t deal with this DIVX stuff, I don’t do NetFlix, bla bla bla. Don’t even have a MySpace or Facebook or whateverthehell page. But dammit, I enjoy me some RiffTrax. It’s easy to the point of shampoo direction simple. What computers don’t have at least a crappy MP3 player program in them out of the box? PC Jrs? I love a simple DVD copy as much as anyone, but frankly… I can’t fathom taking a hardline stance against RT on the basis of technological complication unless running two appliances at once is tricky.

When is Shout Factory going to start releasing some MST3K?

  19. John H. says:

Hm, weird that all the Rifftrax hate is coming out -now-. It actually works really well generally, and this is really the only way any of the old MST guys are going to be able to get their mitts on the movies most deserving of mockery. Yeah, you can make fun of old 50s sci-fi movies, but when it comes right down to it they’re easy targets. No one thinks those old Roger Corman or Joseph E. Levine turkeys are fine cinema after all, but you’ll find thousands of people, duped by the studio’s marketing departments and an easily-milked love of spectacle, willing to defend movies like Daredevil and Beowulf.

While Joel and company are more likely to bring up that killer reference you’d never expect, Mike’s group has the riskier job, and so far they’re doing very well at it, I’d say. Now if they’d just abandon those DivX shorts….

  20. Bernal says:

I know it’s not that complicated, but I kind of agree with the spirit of what BSBrian is saying. I don’t think I’m that computer-illiterate but I certainly don’t know how to add a track to a copy-protected DVD I’m burning. The thing is I’m not interested in learning how nor do I have the time and therein lies the problem. The only mp3 player I have is my computer, and the two times I tried Rifftrax it was, as you can imagine, quite horrible to get the RT sound from crappy computer speakers while the movie played on my home theater. I ended up using headphones and turning the movie sound up. Less than ideal. The riffs were pretty funny, but still. I hate watching movies on my computer, I feel like I’m at work. I would love to see more FC and CT.

That being said, I understand Rifftrax are thousands of times less expensive to produce. I know I’m missing out and I am happy just knowing that they exist and I hope they keep making more. Perhaps one day I’ll do some sort of upgrade that will allow me to play both the mp3 and movie sound at the same time on my system so I can catch up and send some money to those guys who have made me laugh so hard for so many years.

I had no problem with the one I tried, player, audio, my DVD of Jurassic Park, worked great… and I’m dying to try more!

And as for post 20, you only have to watch the Rifftrax version of the movie “at work”. Worth the trip back to your cubicle, seriously!!

I was thinking a while back. I wonder if I could make a side business making Rifftrax mixed DVD’s for people who don’t want to or don’t know how?

How could it be legal? Somehow there would have to be proof that a person owns both the rifftrax file and the dvd.

I really hate to see people miss out on all the great MST3K style goodness that is Rifftrax because they can’t find an easy way to enjoy them.

    Stupid DMCA…

  23. zombie says:

oh, and for Bernal – No 20. Sounds like you know your home theater stuff good enough. Maybe you could look for a new/cheep CD player that can play CD’s with mp3’s on them. Then you could play the DVD and the CD together on the big theater speakers. I did that for a while.

  24. BLT Taco says:

You don’t even need a CD player that can handle MP3s; just burn the MP3 to an audio (not data) disc with your computer, and the disc should play fine on any regular old CD player. It’s pretty easy… even for the computer-phobic.
