Is this the first time anyone’s noticed Easter eggs on a MST release? Has anyone ever found any on the other releases?

Could I be any more excited about this release? No, I could not be any more excited.
I propose that this is, Shout’s Vol. XVI, is the strongest boxed set…since Rhino’s Vol. 2.

A note for those in Baltimore… This set is on the shelf and for sale at Daedalus books near the Senator Theater. It includes the Servo figure and costs $39.95! Actually, I should say that they had several sets on November 9, and I don’t know if the set is still in stock. I’ve been eagerly awaiting XVI, and was very surprised to stumble on it nearly a month before it’s supposed to release. Santa Claus looks great, and the extras (that I’ve seen so far) are fun. My only complaint is that Tom Servo’s body is a little closer to brown than red, but who really cares?

Easter eggs on the dvd set? Interesting addition from Shout! Factory. I’m looking forward to this even more now!
My only beef with this guy’s reviews is his overly-critical take on the audio/visual quality of the show. Does this guy think the people @ SF are like one of Ted Turner’s companies, restoring older pieces of work to HD quality? Fact is, these DVDs are far and away better, quality-wise, than any taped or dvd-r versions I’ve watched. He’s probably one of those people clamoring for the show to come out in Blu-Ray. :roll: Nice idea, but it isn’t the type of show that will be enhanced greatly by Blu-Ray.

There’s a easter egg on the Zombie Nightmare disc, but I can’t remember where…it’s pretty easy to find, and it shows some recent John Mikl-Thor promotional thing, from what I remember.

Its finally coming out in less than 2 weeks…saw some Amazon.com reviews too and really liked what the reviewers had to say about it..

Nice review, it’s cool when the reviewer “get’s it”.
I, too, am soooo happy this is only a couple weeks away. I haven’t seen Santa Claus and Warrior since they were first broadcast.
Christmas day I can’t wait to watch: the MST Sanata Claus Conquers the Martians, Santa Claus, and then the CT SCCtM. This is going to be the BEST Christmas ever!!

His take on the picture quality is pretty off. Other than the macroblocks introduced with the DVD transfer, this is as close to broadcast quality as anybody will ever see of these episodes. And in this day and age of digital cable with its heavy compression, perhaps better quality than what you’d see now if these shows were put back on TV on a SD digital station.

I believe all four Shout Factory! releases have been early. About three weeks if I’m not mistaken. I’m really looking forward to this one :wink:

How could anyone NOT LIKE a set that has SANTA CLAUS? Any reviewer should receive a gift-wrapped box of poop. This one is safe. :smile:

Um…Gary, yes, Donald Pleasence DID play Blofeld in “You Only Live Twice”. Can’t wait to get my Servo figure!

@Tim S. Turner
Thanks for clearing that up for the author. I read that quip and I was like “Whaaat?” Isn’t his job to review movies and he doesn’t know that Donald Pleasence was basically THE Blofeld?
Seriously, it was like his highest profile role next to Dr. Loomis in Halloween! OK, I’m done.

My name is Brian Ward and I am the producer of these sets. Interesting to know they’re already out there on shelves, but not entirely surprising. I just wanted to stop in and thank everyone for the support. This is a great collection and I believe you’ll all dig it.
As for the comment re: Servo’s color, it should be noted that the actual Tom robot was painstakingly scanned by Gentle Giant Studios and the paint was matched to the prop. When shot for the show, light and the camera’s own ability to read color made Tom look a lot brighter than he actually is. Servo is actually closer to burgandy than red. So I can promise, especially after Jim Mallon’s personal approval, that the Servo figurine is as close to the real thing as can possibly exist.
