Most of these sites were long-abandoned, so it’s no great loss, unless you’re nostalgic for dark red lettering on black backgrounds, blink tags and midi tunes. Ah, those were the days.
The new page, now a single page rather than two, lists what we THINK are current pages first, and at the bottom there’s a list of sites that still exist but are also abandoned (we think).
Since we have official links in the navigation bar to the left, we’ve also eliminated the “official links” portion and the page is now all about fan sites.
If we listed your site as abandoned and it’s not, let us know. Heck, if we listed your site as current and you’ve abandoned it, let us know that too. We won’t judge you.
And if you have a fan site that’s current and not listed, definitely let us know, so we can add it.
Wow, I can remember when the listing would go on and on for ages.
It’s really quite remarkable(and a bit sad) to see it so drastically cut down now.
Am I the only one that finds it a bit bewildered that some of these are more than a decade old?

That reminds me, did Web Site Number 9 ever get a new home? I used to love reading those Mistings of fanfics.

No, Web Site Number 9 never came back. There is somewhat of an alternative: The MSTing Mine, which links to at least most, if not all, MiSTings posted to the MST3K newsgroups that Google Groups still has access to. However, if Google Groups lost a MiSTings, or it was never posted to a newsgroup, then we’re outta luck.

I’ve also been developing a successor for Web Site Number Nine, for right now kind of hesitantly not really named, but which ought to feel reasonably familiar to the old site.
I am planning on putting forth a big upgrade in how the database behind it works, but nobody on the outside should see the difference when that does go into place.

Wow, Bookworm, thanks for doing that. I thought my MSTings were lost forever! Oh, and other people’s MSTings are important too… heh-heh…

Wow. Imagine my surprise and delight to have my site now be the very first one listed on the new Umbilicus. My last update may have been a month or two ago (one of the things we took down when my wife and I — mostly her — redesigned the page was the date stamp saying when it was last updated), but I promise it’s still an active page.

@Sampo, I didn’t put it together–Keith Palmer did. Though I, among others, did help out in tracking some down.

I tried mailing this URL change to the site a couple of times, but I guess my e-mails got sent to the spam folder or something.
Anyway, The MST3K Video Guide has been safely moved from Geocities since the spring. The new URL is….

Not sure why my comment didn’t get posted earlier today, but I tried e-mailing the site a while ago with a URL update, but I guess the e-mails got sent to the spam folder or something.
