The Keswick Theater in suburban Philadelphia has announced their New Year’s Eve show: Cinematic Titanic. It will apparently be a three-movie marathon!
Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon (Eastern).
The three movies will be: “War of the Insects,” “Samson and the Seven Miracles” and “Frankenstein’s Castle of Freaks.”

Update: Tickets are on sale now..

By the way, the movie that will be riffed at the November 21 show in St. Louis’s Family Arena will be “War of the Insects.

D’oh! I live near Philly, but always go home to visit the folks for Christmas and New Years! So I won’t be in the area.

As long as there are 3 DVDs released by then, I don’t care where they spend their New Years Eve.

Sorry, I spend New Year’s Eve with my Mom in northeastern PA. Some other time, CT.

So,does that mean the new movie they’ll do in St.Louis they’ll do in PA.?? If so,then one of the last 3 movies should already be released on dvd by that time??? Good,good..I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

    “War of the Insects”
    “Samson and the Seven Miracles”
    “Frankenstein’s Castle of Freaks”

I’m pretty sure that’s the order too.

By the way, I am glad to know someone else appreciates W.C. Fields.

Wow…sounds good except for the thought of sitting in a theater seat for six hours. So is their meet and greet not going to be until 2 in the morning? Castle of Freaks was only a so so movie for me.

I’m thinking we need to take up a collection and get you OUT of DC. Dam place has gone downhill since Mayor Berry was “set up”.

I would love to do this, and as a Baltimore resident, it’s pretty tempting, unfortunately New Years Eve is already booked up.

Graboidz- Baltimore is fine with me, too. Plus, the housing is probably cheaper.

Feel free to take up that collection for me, too. I never expected when I moved here from Detroit that I’d be taking a step down in livability.

I can’t help but think that I will avoid all my friends, family and everyone else to go to this. Thank you CT for getting me out of the house!

I’m surprised no one has commented about the films. Great throw backs to MST! The first japanese film we will have seen riffed, if I am correct, since Invasion of the Neptune Man, and a Maciste film. You guys probably all that Maciste was Colussus in Colussus and the Headhunters and Hercules in Hercules and the Moon Men.
But of course we have to contend with the fact that it will be eons before we can watch these on DVD.

About the Keswick. It’s a great theater to see performances/movies, and for regular musical performances you can buy drinks in the lobby (not sure about CT) but the theater seats are rather small (anyone for a diet and/or exercise? )

Are we to assume that the 3 movies might start in the afternoon and could last until midnight? I’d hate to think it would start around 8pm and last until 2 or 3am..Talk about your butt being numb all that time. For those lucky enough to go,please report back to us who can’t,ok??

  21. GersonK says:

@Gary – the theater website says it starts @ 7:30 PM, and the CT email says FCoF starts after midnight. So figure around 6 hours in the theater with maybe an hours’ worth of intermissions. (45 minutes of warm up /interstitals, 90 minutes for FCoF, 165 min for the first two).

Anyone know anything about the first two movies? I can’t seem to find any info on them.

Sigh.. I am a Mistie Isolate ( My wife and daughter just aren’t that into it, and I have no IRL Mistie friends ). I am going to have to take a pass on this and see out the old year with my family.

That’s great that they’re doing WAR OF THE INSECTS (rather obscure film choice, can’t wait to see it), PLUS a long-overdue sword-and-sandel flick?

Argh, I hope CT comes close to home (Boston again please) someday, or at least release DYNAMITE BROTHERS and the other blood island film to DVD in the meantime.

Keep up the good work, CT!

Woo hoo!!! Just bought two tickets for myself and my big brother. Of course, I had to okay it with the wife that I was going to see in the New Year without her, but she didn’t seem to mind at all.
