Updated: 80+ Links To Essentially the Same Post

As the RiffTrax Live event approached, we started to see actual news stories in the media about it. Which, with a few exceptions, made a change from what people had been doing–just rewriting (or in some cases NOT rewriting) the press release RiffTrax/Fathom put out.

A LOT of sites did this, but I didn’t bother to list every one as it happened, because there was no new information, just a reiteration of what everybody already knew. But for those of you completionists who need to see EVERY FREAKIN’ MEDIA MENTION (:::coughTomNoelcough::: ;-) ), here’s a collection of links (I may have missed a few personal blogs or LiveJournal posts. If so, feel free to add them in the comments.)

You can see mentions of the RiffTrax Live here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here (great headline!), here, here, here, here, here and here.

8/14 Update: Here (Wall St. Journal!), here (SF Chron.), here, here (slightly more detailed than most), here (companion to a larger piece in the other post), here (well-known blogger Ann Althouse!), here (complete with snarky comment), here, here and here.

8/17 Update: here, here (The Hollywood Reporter), here, here, here, here and here. Oh, and about a zillion retweets today after they announced a contest where if you retweet an announcement about the show coming to the theater in your town, you might win an iPod.

8/18 Update: Here, here, here, here, herehere and here.

8/19 Update: Here, here, herehere and here.

8/20 Update: Here, here, here, here, here, here, herehere, herehere, herehere, here (Brits!), herehere, here and here.

I do very much love that the first link is to a site called “ToplessRobot.com”. Brilliant.

Actually, I learned a little from each of these. The fifth and thirteenth had more of a lilting quality, while the twenty-eigth was terse, but informative.

“Nerds! Assemble!” Yeah, goofy headline indeed. The blogger/reporter is hot though.

Shouldn’t he have done all this work himself then? Evidently he has access to the internet.

Tom is the only other person remotely qualified to run the infoclub should either Erhardt or Sampo take off in their time-traveling Cessna. In fact, he probably was the one who DID do all that work himself and likely already runs the place now and he’s only posting as “Sampo” and “Erhardt” in order to fool us into a state of calm complacency while those two go traipsing around the space-time continuum looking for the missing KTMA eps.

Oh, no, no, no. Not me. This MSTie Nirvana is pure Sampo and Erhardt. I have enought trouble keeping my own site up to date. Besides, I have always relied on the kindness of others to keep me informed.

Dang, this post keeps making me think of Dana Carvey’s one scene in ‘Clean Slate’ that was actually funny.

“We started out here…then we went here, here, here, here, here, here, here…and finally ended up…here.”

For the record, that may have officially been the last time he was funny.

And for the record yet again, I’ve apparently lived a sheltered enough life that I didn’t quite get the “snarky comment”, and am okay with that (In my town, all races come together as yuppies, or something). I also wonder if that adjective is being used often enough that Lewis Carroll’s “The Hunting of the Snark” is officially affecting culture more than “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass”…

What a sodding fiasco. The theater couldn’t get the satellite feed to work and I had to get a refund!!

Ours blinked out a couple of times, but always picked right back up. I’m truly sorry to hear you missed it–the guys were in top form, Coulton was first-rate, and the movie totally sucked.

Westbury L.I. : The theater was full, a good natured crowd, the openers were a great warm up, the movie and the riffing were great great great. I’ll go again.

Had an absolutely fantastic time. Saw it in Madison WI, and besides the 3 or 4 brief cutouts (no more than 3 seconds each, all before Plan 9), I was amazed at how well everything went off (sound, pacing, even the Nashville crowd was great; Madison, too). Laughed my ass off; one of the funniest theater experiences in a long time. The RiffTrax crew clearly worked hard on this, and it showed. Can’t wait for them to do it again.

Just got back. Hey!! They were funny! I liked it, had a good time. Someone brought a Crow that they had made into the theater and he was a big hit.

Good crowd. Didn’t have any trouble getting the feed. The theater itself started the sound a little too late when (oops, I forget her name who did the intros) was talking – they were still playing whatever commercials they were playing before the event started, so we could see it but not hear it. But that was their doing, not any trouble with the feed, and they started it in time, when the guys came out.

    Good time had by all.

Cinemark in Hadley, MA. The theater was much more packed than I thought it would be, but I got a nice seat. Sattelite blinked out about 2 or 3 times during the short and once near the beginning of Plan 9 where we lost audio for about 30 secs. to a minute. Overall though, I really enjoyed it and hope they do another show like this again sometime!

It blinked out a couple times in our theater too, but picked right back up. Aside from that, the only problem was the guy who thought he was a long-lost member of Best Brains. Wouldn’t shut up. We moved away from him. The Rifftrax guys had me gasping for breath by the end of Plan 9; lots of great running jokes and, of course, Tor Johnson.

Yeah, I got the postcard downloaded before the “hits” hit the fan…our theater here in the greater Atlanta area (AMC Discover Mills) had a few blips too, all in the short, but I attributed it to the stormy weather we’re having tonight. Wonder if there’s some sort of screw up in the satellite link that we don’t know about. But it cleared up nicely. I personally didn’t really care for the non-riffing bits that were done, but the short and the movie made me (and everyone else in the packed theater) laugh my sorry ass off!

I was in the somewhat-filled Century theater in Evanston, IL.*

We had the hiccups during the short, knocking out a couple of riffs, though not Mike’s killer, “NO!!”

Everyone certainly enjoyed the first “commercial,” and while Coulton’s songs were less-well received, they were mostly enjoyed. In particular, our audience seemed to revel in the Nashville crowd shots during those songs – the stone-faced, “Get On With It!” types always got a good laugh. Then there were those two women, singing happily along to his songs. Take a bow, ladies, you were enjoyed!

I had recently seen the “Plan 9” DVD, but I didn’t remember it being quite as sharp as this was. This was a lot of fun. I hope this proved enjoyable for them (as well as profitable) enough that they might choose to do this again.

*After seeing all of the theaters showing it in the area, I decided to just walk up. The cashier told me they’d sold “at least 100” by that point, and that he wished he wasn’t working, so he could go too. I just don’t know quite how full it really was – it seemed full enough though.

@22: Yeah, the song’s didn’t get a great reception, but people really seemed to like the reaction shots of the audience!

Loved it. I don’t know whether it was seeing it with a room full of people or just the fact that it was live, but I found it a superior experience to doing it at home. The showing I saw at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ was sold out. I’d love if they could do this monthly.

I was in Nashville tonight! Handy, since I live here…

It was amazing. I tried to ignore the camera when it pointed at me (Did anyone see me? I was wearing a green shirt. Plaid.) MAN, they were amazing! It was great all the way around!
