RIP Director Jeannot Szwarc — Jeannot Szwarc, the French-American director known for his work in both film and television, died January 16. He was 85. Szwarc’s career spanned several decades and included “Jaws 2” (1978), “Somewhere in Time” (1980), “Supergirl” (1984) and “Santa Claus: The Movie” (1985).

Jeannot Szwarc originally got noticed directing episodes of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery. In fact, Rod was so impressed by Szwarc’s talent that he asked that Szwarc be assigned to direct all of his stories for the show. That’s kinda cool. One of his best directed episodes was The Sins of the Fathers.
And then he went on to the proverbial bigger and better … and Jaws 2. RIP Jeannot.
