NEW YORK CITY — Daytime Emmy-winning actor Thom Christopher, perhaps best remembered as for his long-running role as mobster Carlo Hesser and his meeker twin brother, Mortimer Bern, on the ABC soap opera “One Life to Live,” died Dec. 6 in a hospital here after a long illness.
He was also known for his turn as bird-like alien Hawk on the 1979-81 NBC series “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.” Christopher joined “One Life to Live” in 1990 – he was only supposed to work one day on the daytime drama.
MSTies, however, will recall his roles as Troxartas in the movie in episode 703- DEATHSTALKER AND THE WARRIORS FROM HELL and Shurka in the movie in episode 1111- WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM II.
The Hollywood Reporter has the story.
Thanks to Gordon for the heads up.
RIP Trucks R Us
He’s chewing the scenery in Heaven, now
WHO!! wouldhavethoughtthat… TrucksARTIST!! would be nominated for multiple Emmys.
One of the few good things about the misbrgotten second season of Buck Rogers was Thom Christopher’s Hawk. He was a lot of fun, and certainly a better actor than Gil Gerard!
Even if the series’ producers never could make up their collective minds whether he was supposed to be their Spock or not.
RIP.
RIP, one of my favorite villains in a MSTied movie! Talk about a perfect storm: the name, the costumes, the perfect bald pate, and first-class unapologetic scenery-chewing. A riffer’s bonanza! Troxartas is truly evil, but in the sense of a Disney cartoon villain.
