RIP Bernard “Gonna Sink this B*th” Hill Dies

We rarely note the passing of a famously riffed character, but we’re making an exception here to note the passing of actor Bernard Hill, perhaps best known as King Theoden in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, and who is known to MSTies as the actor played the captain in captain in “Titanic.”

He was 79.

It is one of those “little known facts” that the captain of the Titanic was also the president of the Trans-Oceanic Hellman’s Mayonnaise Fan Club and that the ship was carrying an enormous quantity of their product as cargo. When the Titanic was lost it actually created an international shortage, so much so that the event became known in Mexico as “Sinko de Mayo”.

  3. A scene that was riffed twice by Kevin Murphy with the same line. First on the Academy of Robots Choice Awards special, then with Rifftrax.
