RIP M. Emmet Walsh

St. Albans, Vermont — Character actor M. Emmet Walsh, best known for his gripping performances in films such as “Blood Simple” and “Blade Runner,” died from cardiac arrest on March 19 at a hospital here. He was 88.

MSTies may remember that he played Whitley in the movie in episode K15- SUPERDOME and was mentioned in a host segment in episode 301- CAVE DWELLERS.

The A.P. has the story.

Thanks to Tim for the heads up.

According to IMDb he preferred to “hide” behind his roles and didn’t mind that audiences forgot that he was W. Emmett Walsh. He was a true professional. RIP

Any movie he was in was made better by his presence. His role in Blood Simple has to be one of the best performances not nominated for an Oscar.

I remember Roger Ebert said, “Any movie with M. Emmet Walsh can’t be all bad”.
