From dvdtalk.com:
“This is just one of those movies that started off badly and got worse. I love campy 50’s Sci Fi but this is far too ‘Plan 9 from Outer Space’ for me. If you can imagine an awful movie that stinks to high heaven then you are probably thinking about this movie. Admittedly, at the end of the film, I was in stitches as the alien was clubbed to death but other than that I was in sheer and utter pain. Skip it.”

I’m really excited that Rifftrax has finally riffed “Brain From Planet Arous.” This is one of my favorite John Agar flicks. You know, except for the attempted rape part. Ick.

Say what you will about John Agar the actor, but nobody could doubt his dedication to the role in PLANET AROUS after seeing him suffer while wearing those horrendous contacts. Owie, Owie, Ow!!

Oh man, now this is a B-movie classic if there ever was one.

The Mads beat Rifftrax to a movie riff instead of the other way around for once.

Wikipedia: “In 1943, 15-year-old [Shirley] Temple met 22-year-old John Agar, whom she married two years later in 1945, at age 17.”
Truly an actor ahead of his time…

I got The Brain From Planet Arous the minute I heard of its release. I’ve been waiting for THAT one for years!
Anyway, it should be remembered that Pearl Forrester never got around to doing her “John Agar Film Festival.”
So, let’s see, what John Agar films do we have?
— Women of the Prehistoric Planet (MST episode 104);
— Revenge of the Creature (MST episode 801);
— The Mole People (MST episode 803);
— Attack of the Puppet People (RiffTrax); and
— The Brain from Planet Arous (The Mads Are Back and RiffTrax)
And, of course, Mary Jo tackled Invisible Invaders on her program. I think we have enough for a nice little film festival. Don’t you think?
Now, if we could convince the Rifftrax boys to do Hand of Death, that would make it perfect. After all, Joe Besser appears in Hand of Death, as does Butch Patrick, and the monster that Agar becomes resembles The Thing from the Fantastic Four if he was a black guy. What’s not to love?

Word was that one of the reasons she agreed to marry Agar was that he was not involved in the movie biz. Then, after the marriage, he was offered a contract by David O Selznick. Shirley didn’t like that, and the marriage was never the same afterwards.
