For some of us Basil Rathbone is still the definitive Sherlock Holmes on film. Nigel Bruce as a bumbling Watson… not so much. Mary Jo’s comment about the power to attract moths in the promo is killer!

    From tvguide.com:

“Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson arrive in Canada and are confronted with a strange murder case.
One of the better films in the series of HOLMES features in which Rathbone starred. This one takes place in Canada, where the sleuth and his sidekick Watson (Nigel Bruce) are attending a seminar on the supernatural. The foggy marshes differ little from the usual setting, and the inhabitants of the village are fearful of a legendary monster that stalks the marshes and is apparently responsible for a number of murders. But Rathbone astutely relates these killings to a former actor who had been madly in love with the first victim, the wife of Cavanagh. The actor, played by Hamer, has taken on a number of disguises and become a trusted member of the small community. Posing as the local innkeeper, Hohl, Rathbone allows himself to be prey for the killer, in this case under the guise of the local postman. The second and final time Rathbone and Bruce are to cross the Atlantic, the journey back to their homeland is marked by yet another speech Rathbone credits to Winston Churchill.”
