So this is the “prequel” to Castle of Fu Manchu, one of the worst MST3K-ed movies. The trailer gave me awful flashbacks. The only redeeming quality of that episode was the dirtiest riff ever made by MST3K.

Hopefully this one is easier to take.

    From tvguide.com:

“Lee stars as the evil villain he regularly played in this irregular 1960s series. This time he has innoculated ten beautiful women with a special poison that will kill the ten world leaders he has assigned his flunkies to kiss. Greene, the first victim, recovers from the poison and is able to stop the evil Lee. Poorly scripted and directed, this film lacks the sort of energy needed to make it the least bit fun. Also released in a badly butchered 61-minute version that was of no help at all in understanding the plot. (Sequel: CASTLE OF FU MANCHU.)”

Every time I see one of these silly movies with caucasian actors portraying east Asians I think of Peter Sellers in MURDER BY DEATH portraying Sidney Wang the pseudo Charlie Chan detective. In the voice of Truman Capote commenting on Sidney Wang’s speech habits while inside a moose head, “Use your g-d d-mn articles!”. I love that movie.

If I remember correctly, the first couple of Fu Manchu movies with Lee were OK. The remaining three, including “Castle”, aren’t.
