RIP Artie KaneWIDBEY ISLAND, WASHINGTON–Grammy-nominated film pianist and composer Artie Kane, who helped create film scores including “Looking for Mr. Goodbar” and “Eyes of Laura Mars,” died at his home here on June 21. He was 93.

Say what you will about “It Lives By Night”, but that opening/closing song really established a creepy mood. It’d make a good twin-spin with the “evil little kid music” opening from “Squirm”.

Hmm, I don’t know . . . I mean, the song is interesting musically and definitely creepy, but the creep quotient in the movie is so low that it kind of overwhelms it. The song implies something like The Ring, or The Thing, but what we get is an unlikable, noodly man who has an unlikable wife and turns into an extra from Beneath the Planet of the Apes after being bitten by a bat.
