RIP Orrin Hatch

Salt Lake City, UTAH — Sen. Orrin Hatch, the longest-serving Republican in the Senate’s history, died here April 23. He was 88.

MSTies may recall that he was mentioned in a host segment in episode 904- WEREWOLF.

UPI has the story.

He co-sponsored the Children’s Hospital (CHIPS) act with Robert Kennedy. When enacted they say it cut the number of children living in poverty in half. RIP

I thin you might have some facts off a bit. He cosponsored the Emergency Medical Services for Children Reauthorization Act of 2014 but that was Robert Casey, not Kennedy. And it didn’t do anything for child poverty; it just extended the program’s funding from 2014 through 2019 for a total of $101 million, which is not nearly enough to cut poverty in half, unfortunately. The actual aim of the program is to improve emergency medical services for children by providing grants to medical facilities in the hopes the funds will be used to provide access to care that might be out of reach for certain groups.

Senator Hatch and Senator Kennedy did co-sponsor the Childrens Hospital Insurance Program (CHIP, not CHIPS. Sorry). While I disagreed with much of his politics one must give credit where it is due. Thanks for reading my entry.

No offense, but why does it seem like this is a death pool and no MST3K news, there was some from Joel recently and you didn’t post.
    I am setting a moratorium.

The only news has been for backers. The new season begins on Friday but I was waiting till we get closer. If somebody who has an MST connection dies, we’ll report it.
