Terrific show! Met Gruber before the show and he signed my Mst3k book. He’s a really cool guy! Loved the riffs, even though there were some that didn’t get much of a laugh, but they made up for it afterwards.Perfect movie for them to do.Met everyone at the meet and greet and they were all super nice, even though Mary Jo didn’t say much.Guess she was tired..Loved the songs that Josh,Gruber and Frank did, too! I haven’t laughed that much in a long time!! Wished I could have gone to tonight’s show, but had to drive back and go back to work..

Saturday Night, in a nutshell: Brilliant. Laughed myself stupid. What an insanely bad movie that was.

Any idea what was up with the delay starting the show? I forgot to being anything to sign, so I didn’t stick around for the grip-and-grin.

The “delay” was a running gag. They did it both nights. It was actually more convincing Friday night.

Sound mixing could have been better and the Lakewood needs to upgrade their seats; but great performances from CT (and Gruber) both nights. Friday was especially cool since that was the first time they’d performed that movie: “Alien Factor” Trust me, made Saturday’s “Danger on Tiki Island” look almost Oscar worthy. My wife and I have been lucky enough to get great seats to all three CT shows so far in Dallas. Its great to see the interaction of the group. Joel in particular always seems to be getting a genuine kick out of the riffs of his fellow performers. I also come away from these shows with a new found respect and admiration for Josh. The guy is really talented. I hope they come back to Dallas on their next tour.

The show was great top-to-bottom and all of the CTers (and Gruber) really did seem to be enjoying themselves. The movie dialogue was a bit difficult to pick up in places (and the actors’ accents didn’t help) but not enough to affect one’s enjoyment. Will absolutely go to the next live event that comes anywhere near us.

I enjoyed the show very much, no surprise there. The sound system in the theater left a bit to be desired. It was difficult to hear the movie dialogue at times, ergo the riff dependent upon it did not register. I do think that Danger on Tiki Island is a winner and look forward to the DVD, if, for nothing else, the epic battle between experienced (albeit sexless) scientist and butterfly. (crappy attempt at butterfly) Guess who gets the worst of it?

Last night was a lot of fun. The sound was not good, as some have pointed out earlier, and my father and I did not pick up on all of the jokes as a result. It was hard to understand what was happening at the beginning of the movie, but as is the case with most of the films that CT and MST3K skewers, you’re not really trying to discern the finer elmenets of the plots. I enjoyed last year’s presentation of Wasp Woman better, but that’s just being picky. How can you complain when we have had three shows here in just over 16 months, and we went years without anything new?

Overall I had a great time. The group are all so nice, even friendlier than last year. I wa s abit flustered because I took so long counting my money buying a DVD and shirt that when I go to Trace, I could not think of what to say. He shook my hand and I remarked how I could not believe I was standing next to him. He joked with me that I was only imagining it. He then helped me open the seal on the DVD and chatted with me about how long I had been a fan of the show, etc.

Joel is, hands down, a really nice guy who seems genuinely appreciative of his fans; even after shaking the hands of a long line of people, he took a moment and let my father take my picture with him. I will support everything Joel ever does as a result. Thanks a million, CT! Come back soon … or at least keep the shows up around the country so I can start planning vacations around them.

P.S. Even as a Republican, I laughed at Frank’s jokes about going to President Bush’s house in Preston Hollow. I though he handled that pretty well, getting the jokes in about Dallas and the JFK assasination, etc. I also loved Gruber’s jokes about how everyone there had not gone to the George Strait show. Pretty funny.

The Saturday show was a disappointment for me. The sound was absolutely horrible. The only time we could hear the movie was when the crowd was dead silent. It seemed like the closer to the stage, the worse the sound was. My group was sitting in the second and fourth rows. I could tell that nobody in our section could hear what was going on because nobody was laughing. I think I wouldn’t have felt so disappointed if we lived in Dallas and had not come from San Antonio, a 4.5 hour drive (that and the tickets were not cheap). We had front row seats at the Austin show and had a great time with no issues with the sound. I would have to assume from that experience that it’s the venues fault and I will not return to the Lakewood Theater.
That aside, the cast seemed to be in great form. When we could make out the riffs they were hilarious. Gruber was awesome as was the entire pre-show.
I know there’s no way to check every seat in a theater for sound quality, but it seems like too many people were having issues hearing this particular show.

My wife and I caught Portland’s Saturday show, (May 31st) which was absolutely wonderful! The Civic Auditorium’s sound was very good, and the CT crew were at the top of their respective games. May I suggest a couple of titles to pursue the rights to? Arch Hall Jr.’s “Wild Guitar” makes “Terror of Tiki Island” look like “Citizen Kane”. Also, “Queen of Outer Space,” which was an A-budget project for Columbia when it was produced.

    The sound was HORRIBLE!

I’m glad several people are talking about it because we wondered if we were the only ones.

I don’t know that I made out any of the sound of the movie (I went Saturday) and maybe caught half (if that) of what the CT’ers said.

So I’m NOT talking bad about the guys (and gal), but the sound.

We bought tickets early with the code and my friend got Row 7 Sec C thinking we’d be back a little. Unfortunately that actually meant front row Sec C so Frank and Trace blocked part of the screen the whole time.

We also went by the Premiere Video M&G, but since I didn’t have anything to sign we just left after a while. It looked like someone had posters outside but we weren’t offered any and I didn’t know if they were free or what.

I hate that I missed so many of the jokes (and unfortunately some of the biggest laughs) because I’m sure it was really really funny, but I just couldn’t hear.

At Friday night’s show the sound was a little muffled in places and sometimes I think the cast was speaking too close into the microphone, but other than that,it was a great show!!! I wonder what movie they’ll do after “Danger at Tiki Island”?? I know they turned down “Wild Guitar” before, during Season 7,but it would be perfect if they did do it.Here’s my list: “Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster”,”Frankenstein’s Daughter” and “The Astounding She-Monster”.
