Fort Worth, Texas–Character actor James Hampton, perhaps best remembered as untalented bugler Hannibal Dobbs in 1960s sitcom “F Troop,” died April 7, at his home here of Parkinson’s disease complications. He was 84.
Hampton had a long career in film and television before retiring to his native Texas, including roles in “The Longest Yard,” “The China Syndrome, “Condorman,” “Teen Wolf,” “Teen Wolf Too” and “Sling Blade.”
MSTies will remember his role as Lew Price in the movie in episode K19- HANGAR 18.
You knew who was going to be before he spoke a word. RIP
That leaves Larry Storch as the last living cast member on F-Troop….I don’t know why everyone said he was dumb…
I never saw the MST3K episode featuring Hangar 18, but did see the RiffTrax of it.
I definitely knew him from Condorman. Watched that so much growing up, and I definitely appreciated him in Teen Wolf and Hangar 18. RIP
Such a familiar face to old tv show fans. And of course Teen Wolf.
Oh no, I just watched the Rifftrax Hangar 18 last night! Weird coincidence.
WHO SAID HE’S DUMB?!
Here’s Siskel and Ebert weighing in on Hanger 18.
