MCLEAN, VA — Roger Mudd, the longtime political correspondent and anchor for NBC and CBS, who once stumped Sen. Edward Kennedy by simply asking why he wanted to be president, died at his home here March 9 of complications of kidney failure. He was 93.
MSTies will remember that he was mentioned in passing (“This coffee tastes like mud…Roger Mudd!”) in a host segment in episode 311- IT CONQUERED THE WORLD.
Thanks to Paul for the heads up.
Roger Mudd also was part of the History Channel too (when it was still about History and not what it has become today).
From the Politico article: “But when he left NBC, he said management viewed news as “a promotable commodity” rather than a public service.”
That was the beginning of the end. The news media has been devolving ever since.
He was also mentioned in Manhunt in Space: “This is Walter Cronkite with Roger Mudd and we’re space pirates!”
