ACTON, Calif– John “Bud” Cardos, a stuntman, animal wrangler and director of films including “The Red, White and Black,” “Kingdom of the Spiders” and “The Dark,” died at his ranch here Dec. 31. He was 91.
Among the other films he directed were the movies in episode 519- OUTLAW (OF GOR) and episode 1204- THE DAY TIME ENDED.
The Hollywood Reporter has the story.
Thanks to Gordon for the heads up, and thanks to Rick and Tim for the assists.
On careful reading of his imdb entry, it appears that Bud Cardos broke in to the industry at age 21, as bird handler on Psycho. His next job was as bird wrangler, on The Birds.
Also, I find no indication that, despite his long association with Al Adamson, Mr. Cardos had absolutely nothing to do with either Cinderella 2000 or Carnival Magic.
May my own Final Entry in the Book of Life contain anything one-twentieth that wonderful.
I think you meant *whipsering* “The Daaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrk…”
you know, now I’m curious about “Outlaw” did the script really have ‘Cabot? Cabot! Cabot!? Caboooooot!!!’ written 500 times like Jack Torrance?
“He went on helm […] Mutant (1984), starring Bo Hopkins”
The Hollywood Reporter doesn’t give you Wings
or maybe it’s more like “Earth vs Soup”
Joel: “There’s 6 pages of ‘Cabot’ here, Crow!”
Crow: “Well, do you think that’s enough to convey the sheer excitement as the hero Cabot returns to Gor?”
Cardos had so many many great stories…He took over direction of “The Dark” when Tobe Hooper was fired, and had to quickly assemble a new story, at the demand of the producers (Dick Clark Productions), to transform the scripted villain, a native American evil spirit into an alien invader that shots lasers from his eyes. The finished product shows how wonderfully it Didn’t work. R.I.P., Bud
