Sounds like a good one. Question is, do I get this and give away my original Rhino DVD version, or keep them both? Also, are the all the special features available on the DVD, as well, or just on the Blu-Ray?

One advantage to Shout! owning the rights to the movies: we get dual releases like this and The Mole People. Yahoo!

[So Bruce is slightly wrong since Shout! also released The Mole People on Blu Ray.]

Rhino never came out with many extras (except the uncut version on this one and a handful of others), so everything you get from Shout! is a bonus.

Wow- this is so exciting. Why just the other day my lovely Wife commented on her Mother suggesting a song by a Butt ugly teen.

The MST3K episode itself is just a special feature, and probably on the Blu-ray (un-remastered) because they had room for a short SD file. Also because it’s on videotape, and hasn’t had a big lab restoration like the Monty Python box.

MST3K: Eegah is available with a few extra bells-and-whistles on Shout’s “The Singles” collection, namely the new menu and an interview with Joel–In which he admits, okay, maybe they were a little hard on Archie Jr.; Joel mentions talking with Richard Kiel at a convention about the movie, and has new respect for Archie Sr.’s chutzpah in saying “C’mon, son, we’re gonna make you the next Ricky Nelson!”

(Er…yes…well…So, okay, from the review, the interview on the Blu-ray DOES seem to be the same one from the Singles disk. You were expecting maybe Criterion’s Godzilla set??)

    Are you arguing with yourself?

Kenneth, the label publicist tells me the extras also are on the DVD…Kali, thanks for setting me straight on MST’s The Mole People having already made it to Blu-ray …The Original EricJ, you are correct: The interview with Joel on Eegah’s Blu-ray is the same as in the intro (as it’s called on the menu) on the Singles disc. However, the Arch Hall Jr. interview seems to be all-new for this release and is an excellent featurette, as you’d expect from good ol’ Ballyhoo.

I would have prefaced with “Addendum:”, but then everyone would go looking it up online.
And if the post was a Trump tweet, I would, for no immediately apparent reason, shout out the words “…EDIT BUTTON!!”

I have an Arch Hall CD that’s quite good (features a lot incidental music from EEGAH! as well). I’ll definitely pick this up just for the interview!

Thanks for correcting that. Was not aware of Mole People on Blu-ray.

Yes, it’s the same interview, but with a little different graphics presentation.

Mole People may not be one of my favorite episodes (the world’s only blonde, blue-eyed underground dweller isn’t allowed to survive because, well, 50s politics), but the thought of an original MST episode on blu ray, and I said “yes, I HAVE to get this!” So I did!

Besides, it also has a commentary by Tom Weaver, and he’s always fun to listen to and well informed.

Thank you – I had forgotten that the Singles version had some extras. I just remembered the Rhino release didn’t, except for the uncut film.
