  1. Sitting Duck says:

AIP head honcho Sam Arkoff and that devil down in Georgia Edward Montaro were uncredited executive producers. Assistant director Christopher Cruise was also assistant director for The Christmas That Almost Wasn’t.

Actress Paige Conner got one of those dreaded “And Introducing” credits. As you might expect, she’s a member of the Single Digit Club. While none of the actors involved have appeared in a MST3K movie (yet), several have appeared on the TV series In the Heat of the Night.

    From Wikipedia.org.

Film.com’s David Ehrlich referred to the film as “a remake of The Bad Seed as filtered through the acid-tinged mind of Alejandro Jodorowsky.” Many of the set pieces in the film bear striking resemblances to contemporary releases. When the Visitor returns to his cosmic home, there is an extended light sequence that is modeled on the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Katy’s ominous powers are rendered in the style of The Omen, and the conflict over her nature, with good winning out over evil due to the help of an elderly man, led critic Sean Axmaker to call the film an “Exorcist knock-off”. The review cited other obvious influences on the film like Carrie, The Birds, and The Lady from Shanghai.

  3. (sigh) The Amazon Vultures struck again (complete with self-referential Birdemic joke). This one had MST3K Live Tour all over it…Hope Joel’s enjoying his retirement. :(
Back when we had a thread about “What movies should Jonah do for Netflix?”, this was my FIRST pick out of the gate. (Although I went for the “Jodorowsky’s ‘The Omen'” joke. And yes, it DOES look like one of his.)
There’s the fine aged wine of Bizarre Cheesy Movies, and then there’s the six-pack of beer you pick up on sale at the package store…This is the imported stuff you save for special occasions.

It’s one of the pitfalls of trying to do Omen knockoffs with Antichrist kids old enough to talk, since they just come off garden-variety bratty, and you don’t have the urge to exorcise them, so much as take away their cellphones for a week.

And it’s surprising just how many respectable actors Giulio Paradisi got to do Italian paycheck work, including director Sam Peckinpah in one scene–Although we’re used to seeing John Huston show up to pick up a few lira, and Shelley Winters playing a housekeeper who seems to have been black in the original script….At least, I don’t know many white housekeepers who cheerily sing “Shortnin’ Bread” while working in the kitchen.
