WOOHOO! Bring ’em on! The only one I can vouch for is the Plan 9 rifftrax – fantastic and funny. I’ll probably end up owning them all and i’m particularly excited about getting a shot at Missiles to the Moon. The only thing I’d like more is another collection of shorts. I want carnivorous plant riffs!

  2. Well, as founder of The Hunt for Edward D. Wood, Jr. (www.edwoodonline.com), I’m certainly getting the Plan 9 DVD. (I kinda have to.)

But I’m not sure about the others. This is a *lot* of material being put out at once. I like to pace myself.

I get why they don’t include Mike’s original commentaries (why cut into sales of the other DVDs), but why not include *both* versions of Missile to the Moon? Do they just not want to pay Fred Willard?

  3. Oh, but I should add that regardless of whether I buy these now or not, I wholeheartedly support this effort. A solid, real world product like a DVD is much better than a digital download. These, at last, are something I can get behind.

I’ll tell you what, I wish I had gotten ahead of the game when the only things MST3K fans had to look forward to were Rhino DVDs and the eventual release of Darkstar. :) I _finally_ got ahold of all Mike’s Legend commentaries, nearly completing my commercially released collection, and now they release these on DVD. It’s hard to keep up with the awesome.

  5. A thought occurs…

Where am I gonna put all these things? My MST3K shelf is already full to bursting and I don’t even have Volume XIV or the last two CTs yet.

And where’s the money coming from? I’ve already blown my “mad money” for the month on a dozen HD DVDs and copious amounts of Pepsi-Cola Throwback. There’s only so much I can give to help save this country from the economic downturn!

  6. Maybe if this news item highlighted the DVDs and not *another* Rifftrax short, people would be paying more attention…

Since the Missile to the Moon DVD doesn’t have the Mike and Fred rifftrax on it, does the movie itself at least sync up with it? Can you watch the movie on its own without the three-riffer edition, and then sync it with the Mike and Fred version? Are they very different?

  9. Thrifty says:

Yeah. The 3-riffer Missile to the Moon will sync up with the Fred/Mike Rifftrax.

  10. @Philip R. Frey: Does anyone really want to pay Fred Willard, in the grand scheme of things?

Could we ever really pay him enough?

Picked up the 5 new ones, it’s good value and I like having DVD copies of these.

I downloaded the “Night of the Living Dead” 3 Riffer version. It’s pretty good darn it!
Though there were a few jokes recyled from the “Mike Nelson Only” version. Though it’s fun to hear the 3 man gang!
