Servo’s Engine Block Found? One question that has been nagging bot builders for years… Where did the engine block on Tom Servo’s torso come from? The only information they had was that Joel got it off a used toy car. Now, thanks to sledge_riprock over at the Bot Builders Info forum, it looks like the source has finally been found. Cool fact. Not that I actually knew what the hell Tom’s midsection was made of.
Good to know in case I want to build my own. I’ve seen many a Servo head lying around.

Hey wait…. if nobody knew where that engine block originated then…. how were bot builders ever to get ahold of one to make their own Servo replicas?

Who knew they were looking?… Could it have been planted here by “Ancient Astronauts?”

But are its tires filled with water?

Having never looked at Servo’s (semi) batch area that closely I had always assumed it was just a big Lego block. It’s kinda like finding out how DaVinci made the pigment for Mona Lisa’s lips.

A dune buggy…. Tom Servo just got cooler!
Just don’t let that go to his bubble…. uh, head.

On the show itself, I believe the prop maker just made a mold of the part from the original Servo, and then made as many copies as needed. I don’t know how fans made their own replicas.

So, apparently, bot builders are a stranger lot than it would ever have remotely occurred to me to imagine. Okay. Every day, something new.

Well, we’d need to ask that mysterious guy giving dune buggy rides on the beach, I suppose.
